Senate Republicans Screw Troops Yet Again

Out of the litany of hypocrisy we have seen from Republicans in the
last five years, perhaps the most galling is their contrived
support-the-troops rhetoric, apparently designed to mask how they
consistently screw over active military and Veterans at ever turn.
The latest smackdown came this week when Senate Republicans voted to
take $1.9 billion from President Bush's funding request for the Iraq
war and use that money to boost border security. S.Amdt. 3594,
sponsored by Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) was intended to pay for new
aircraft, patrol boats, and land vehicles and to bolster checkpoints
and a fence along the U.S.-Mexico border crossing near San Diego.
