Single mom does not live on MINIMUM WAGE as Osprey claimed |
Ok, now we learn that the single teen raising her child works, gets Gov. aid
I assume is Welfare, free child care, food stamps, educational grants and
more. So I was correct in my statement that no one can live on the MW in the
US.
The next question anyone would ask is how she manages at a tender age to
work full-time, go to school, study, shop, run the child to sitters, clean
her house, sleep, cook, shower, bathe the child and have even 2 minutes of
quality time to spend with the youngster? The child wouldn't even know
her. Is this some kind of magical new super-mom no one has ever seen
before?
Just about all of the teen moms I knew (including my friend's daughter) were
so exhausted after working all day they had little energy, time or patience
for a child, house cleaning, cooking no less dashing off to school and then
studying for hours.... this sounds like some anti-choicers fantasy to me.
And no mention of anything that resembles a normal life for a teen such as
seeing her girlfriends, going out on dates, going to the movies, to a
dance - nothing! What young lady would be even remotely happy with a life
of exhaustion and no time or energy for fun at all? Lets face it, even if
she wanted the child a normal girl would still want a LIFE outside her
dead-end job, dirty diapers, babbling babies, school etc.

Not without subsidies, unless they're living in substandard housing.

It isn't possible to balance all of those without assistance from
family members, which most of these young women do not have.

In their eyes, they had sex so now they have to live with the
consequences.

Of course. After all, she is an individual human being with
aspirations of being something else aside from being a mom (there
isn't anything wrong with that) -- like being a writer, an artist, a
plumber, a human being, whatever she desires...

$$ Yes, and I have seen this substandard housing. I have to pass a complex
on my way to town and no one should have to live like that because of an
unwanted child. But the anti-choicers don't want women to know these
things.
The next question anyone would ask is how she manages at a tender age to
work full-time, go to school, study, shop, run the child to sitters,
clean
her house, sleep, cook, shower, bathe the child and have even 2 minutes
of
quality time to spend with the youngster? The child wouldn't even know
her. Is this some kind of magical new super-mom no one has ever seen
before?
It isn't possible to balance all of those without assistance from
family members, which most of these young women do not have.
$$ Note that the anti-choicers NEVER mention that. What does the girl do
when she realizes too late that her family isn't going to sacrifice their
lives for this unwanted child she just had? Or soon tires of helping her?
Children don't mature in a year like a dog or cat - we're talking possibly
years of help. Some strict religious parents will actually force her out of
the home with the child.
Just about all of the teen moms I knew (including my friend's daughter)
were
so exhausted after working all day they had little energy, time or
patience
for a child, house cleaning, cooking no less dashing off to school and

$$ Of course it is! Even if she took illegal drugs like SPEED, or lived on
coffee she couldn't last....
And no mention of anything that resembles a normal life for a teen such
as
seeing her girlfriends, going out on dates, going to the movies, to a
dance - nothing!
In their eyes, they had sex so now they have to live with the
consequences.
$$ But they seldom do unless they get a lot of help. The unwanted child
gets ignored, abused or neglected. And they're still young ladies who want
to someday meet a man, fall in love and marry. They still want to LIVE.....
having a child doesn't change that.
What young lady would be even remotely happy with a life
of exhaustion and no time or energy for fun at all? Lets face it, even
if
she wanted the child a normal girl would still want a LIFE outside her
dead-end job, dirty diapers, babbling babies, school etc.

$$ I agree.
