Some Common-Ground language concerns |
Given all the hype about Roe v. Wade being overturned, I'm curious
about the language that's been being used. Humor me.
1. What's your stand on abortion?
2. How appropriate do you find the following terms as names for what
is commonly called "abortion"?
[(1) Very appropriate (2) Appropriate (3) Neutral (4) Inappropriate
(5) Very Inappropriate]
( ) "reproductive right"
( ) "murder"
( ) "woman's right to choose"
( ) "abortion"
( ) "killing"
.

Does the first item, "reproductive right", refer to both genders?

1. What's your stand on abortion?
Her life, her body, her choice. It is none of my business, or any one
else's, whether or not she chooses to continue her pregnancy. To
force her to continue a pregnancy against her will in tanamount to
rape.

Thats an aweful lot of neutrals Frank. Does that mean that you think
abortion could be killing humans, but think it should be ok anyway?

you know.

It is not possible for an abortion to kill a human other than the
woman involved.
If birth has occurred it is not an abortion. If birth has not
occurred no human is involved because a fetus is not a human being.
It's like having a scrambled chicken.

That's where most tend to lose focus. They equate species with societal
status.
Many pro-lifers I've seen tend to believe that simply being a member of
the human species affords one some sort of right to something.

It gives exactly as many rights as a dog has for being canine or a cat
for being feline. It means no more or less.
