A man pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to failing to pay nearly
$200,000 in child support for his six Fort Wayne children.
James S. Andrews, 53, who has been living in Lantana, Fla., for the
past two years, had told the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office that he
does not have to pay child support because he is not living in Indiana
and because of his religious beliefs, according to a federal probable
cause affidavit.
Andrews, who is Catholic, elaborated in a letter stating that although
the court determined him to be divorced, his “religious and belief
system says I’m married.” Andrews has since remarried after seeking an
annulment of his previous marriage, the affidavit stated.
