A 20-year-old Bethlehem man who partially stripped a young girl after
getting her drunk and throwing her in a swimming pool was sentenced
today to up to 23 months in county prison.
Northampton County Judge Paula A. Roscioli said she was "disturbed" by
Andrew Gruver's actions, but was also concerned by evaluations that
showed he has a moderate risk to be a repeat sex offender. The judge
also questioned Gruver's empathy for the 12-year-old victim and
whether he fully understood the seriousness of the offense.

Defense attorney Bohdan Zelechiwsky asked Roscioli for a standard
range sentence, saying Gruver is heavily involved in his CHURCH and is
taking courses at Northampton County Community College. His PASTOR
said Gruver's character is "growing."
