Spectators Are No-Show for Chicago's "Gay" Games |
When will liberals get it through their thick heads that Americans
overwhelmingly reject the "separate but equal" society that homos are
espousing. If you want to be like everyone else, act like everyone else
http://www.cwfa.org/articles/11230/CWA/family/index.htm
Amid media hype and promotion, Chicago's "Gay" Games flop financially and
fail to bring in spectators.
Closing ceremonies for Chicago's so-called "Gay Games" at Wrigley Field only
drew 18,000 people including the estimated 12,000 athletes who participated
in the games, organizers reported. Major corporations such as Walgreens,
Nike, Kraft, Gatorade, American Airlines and many other sponsors attempted
to prevent the financial failure of previous "Gay" Games.
The fifth event in the series, Gay Games VII Sports and Cultural Festival,
took place in Chicago from July 15-22. Approximately 12,000 athletes from
100 countries participated in 30 sports, including softball, swimming,
tennis, basketball, rowing, and same-sex couple figure skating. The Games'
opening ceremony took place at Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears.
Approximately 30,000 people attended, not coming close to the 63,000 seat
capacity.

That's because the Chicago organizers got into an hissy fit and decided
to organize their Gay Games while the Outgames were being held at the
same time in Montreal. And there's only so much gay tourism to go
around.
The Montreal Outgames are doing fine from what I've seen. Probably
because most gay-friendly people prefer to travel to Canada rather than
the United States of Christiantalibanistan.

OutGames in Montreal were well-attended. They're being held as we
type, so it's close enough temporally to the GayGames in Chcago to
make a comparison:
Which would you rather attend, if you had to choose:
an event in a country that won't harass you and/or your legal spouse
at customs, won't have people who hate you demonstrating at the event,
didn't have bigots bitching about the event for months prior thereto

I know which I'd choose.
Indeed.
Of course, J/IBen/Lord Hertz never lets _details_ get in the way of his
repetitive trolls.
Otoh, we've spectated at the Gay Pride parade in Chicago on several
occasions, and they're always well-attended and fun.
And yes, there's always a small contingent of Fred Phelps wannabes there to
add to the spectacle.
Every village needs a few willing idiots...
