DanielSan,
In another post, you and I are addressing several issues and ideas on
problems. It appears that we agree on some issues, probably disagree
on some others. I admit that I have some faults and we both probably
have misjudged each other.
So, I am proposing we start over and discuss the issues like we were.
O.k.,
Idea on national health care.
Now, we both agree something has to be done and it would be great if
all Americans could have health insurance.
I think we disagree on Government funding this. You support this, I
don't. And the reason I don't is because I don't think it can be
"funded" without government controlling it.
Minimum wage issue
Of course I would like to see people on minimum wage earn more. But
let's face it. It's almost impossible to do this without there being
another cost, and that cost (in my opinion) would be the loss of family
and small business who can not afford this.
Also, minimum wage jobs are not jobs designed for people to have to
support a family. I would rather see us use our resources to train
people into taking skilled jobs and getting away from min. wage jobs.
Instead, keep the min. wage jobs for teens who are just starting out.
Or if people are in between jobs, sure..the min. wage might help
temporarily.
We live in a global market now and that requires skilled people.
Especially in technology. I would like to see our government offer the
resources to help train people for career change if needed, and/or
preparation for these jobs.
Raising min. wage, in my opinion is not a reasonable task. But I am
open to hearing your ideas and suggestions.
War in Iraq:
Was it a mistake? I think we made mistakes, but I don't think it's
anything we can not recover from. It will take diplomacy and time. I
do agree with you, we need to get our troops out. They are estimating
18 months. I would hope it would be sooner.
We were talking about unions. This is an area I know something about.
As I told you, in Delaware we are a closed shop state. While I agree
some unions are beneficial, I do not support closed shop states. I
don't agree that someone should be required to pay union dues if he or
she doesn't want to be in that union. I would rather take my union dues
and pay a private attorney. Of course, I do my job and do it well so I
haven't had a need for one. But, I would still rather take my union
dues and pay for a private attorney instead of paying my union..making
some of the executive board members a little richer.
As far as our discussion about the state I live in.
I hate seeing what is happening. I am watching more and more land
being eaten up by housing developments. I am watching our schools
become overcrowded. Our population in Delaware has sky rocketed
because it's cheaper for people to live here. But let's evaluate the
cost.
The environment.
The more housing developments we build, the more ground we eat up and
the more trees are cut down. This causes a problem, especially for our
local bay areas, rivers, and ponds. There is runoff, and with that
runoff, it carries pollutants from the housing developments.
I am so angry at our governor and the damage she has done to our state.
We are losing corporate business in Wilmington, loss of jobs. Losing
land for housing development.
You are right, there needs to be oversight.
Want to know something else that is amazing about our government here
in Delaware. Every year, when the budget report comes out. They
always say they are short on funds, but AMAZINGLY, they always find
more money AFTER February. Two years ago, more than 250 MILLION
dollars was found. This year, so far they have found an additional 97
million. Sounds like our treasure doesn't know what he is doing.
Amazing isn't it? Yet, in January our Governor was talking about
budget cuts and we have to tighten up on money.
We can discuss a lot of issues. Like I said, I will take responsibility
if I have misjudged you. This newsgroup is primarily full of liberals
Danielsan, and so many of them are always on the attack. Which is why I
am purposely sarcastic. I am just always ready for someone to either
lie about my position or go on the attack. But if I am wrong, I am
wrong and I don't mind admitting it.
So hopefully we can just start over on the issues.
Hi, I'm Osprey
I am independent. I am disgusted with our politicians in general. I do
not support the choice of abortion; however, I support choice. I want
to see our country become less dependent on oil and gas. I think
Germany has made some major advancements. I am conservative on some
issues, liberal or moderate on others.

You're somebody who likes to accuse people of having no details. I
notice that you provide none at all.
