State Supreme Court upholds Skakel conviction |
Hey Mike, get the top bunk ready for Uncle Ted. If prosecuters can get a
conviction for a 1975 murder, they can do the same for one committed in
1969.

State Supreme Court upholds Skakel conviction
(Stamford-WTNH, Jan. 13, 2006 Updated 7:05 PM) _ No second chance for
Michael Skakel. The state's highest court has rejected his appeal for a new
murder trial. That means Skakel will remain behind bars for the 1975 killing
of Martha Moxley.
The prosecutors who put him there are pleased his murder conviction stands.
"This case has been a success for justice," says Chief State's Attorney
Chris Morano.
It was 1975 when Skakel beat his 15-year-old Greenwich neighbor Martha
Moxley to death with a family golf club, but his arrest came 25 years later.

Then I guess Laura Bush will be modeling an orange jump suit soon.

Except of course for the minor, niggling fact that Ted Kennedy already
pled No Contest to charges relating to that accident. Double
Jeopardy, my dear cretin, means that the case is closed.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I am not an attorney) but I was always under the
assumption that murder does not have a statute of limitations. If
prosecutors can prove a murder was committed, and that could happen if an
independent prosecutor were assigned the case, Mr.Kennedy may be joining his
nephew. The Kennedy plea did not cover murder.
