They want Jews to "join their religious community" by ceasing to be
Jewish.
They're not holding Jews in contempt. They're holding Judaism in contempt.
I beg to differ, but mostly by pointing out that it's pretty much one & the
same.
They want us to cease being Jews - they hold the core of what we are in
contempt.
How can you "cease" being a jew if you never were one, you th*ck Irish
*****?
And I would also add to this by saying that they obviously do hold us in
contempt to the point of insisting that their view is, of course, superior,
& we are obviously misguided for not seeing that.
You're misguided for having imagined you could change race and become
a jew in the first place!
[snip]
Why do you think that they -- the Mormons, that is -- hate Jews, any
more than they "hate" Catholics or Muslims or Anglicans.? Anybody
who
has ever looked at their genealogy web page knows that baptizing and
sealing activities are not confined to Jews.
It's not hate, it's a superiority complex: "We have the true faith."
How is that different from what we Jews feel about our religion?
It's different because Catholics, Muslims, Anglicans etc feel that their
"true faith" should apply to everyone. Jewish belief is that Judaism is
the
true faith *for Jews* but not for everyone else. I think that point has
been
reiterated quite a few times in this thread. I'm not sure I understand why
you keep repeating this canard when several different people have already
refuted this (on this thread). It reminds me of the "chosen people" canard
that I'm always reading on the unmoderated group.
I figure that here *are* Jews who hold this view - however, there are also
Jews who don;t believe in Torah at all - which is to say that there are
always Jews who don't follow Judaism.
And there are shitskes who follow jewdism without being jewish.
That's not so terrible, IMO, especially when they have this generous
impulse to share their path. Even if we're not interested, it doesn't
rise to the level of punch-in-the-nose hostility, surely. -- Q
Yes, it does. Christians seek to convert us in accordance with their
belief
that our religion has been replaced with theirs. They have been trying to
convert us for thousands of years, historically having given us the choice
of "convert or die." Just because they now take a softer approach doesn't
make missionizing any less odious.
Insisting that everyone but they are wrong & that everyone else
should change is not generous.
Suzy
Insisting that you're a jew when everyone knows you're just a
'convert' is plain dumb.
