Take Back America!
Americans, wake up! The religious organizations are moving to control your
government! Across this land, churches, synagogues and mosques are forming
coalitions with politicians and raising money to lobby congress. Their
stated goals are to return to the outmoded Puritan-style values that existed
hundreds of years ago. Such restrictive and judgmental concepts are
DANGEROUS to today’s modern society!
All across the country, these faith-based initiatives have been working to
shut down public schools in favor of privatized education with a MANDATORY
religious study component. This will remove your ability to raise your
children in a modern, scientific world! They refuse to teach established
facts, such as Darwinian evolution, in favor of mysticism and fantasy. Your
children will be able to read scripture, but never be able to fly to other
stars and planets, or build the next supercollider.
These groups have targeted the gun manufacturers, because they know
well-armed citizenry is less easily controlled. If they succeed in removing
your ability to arm yourself and carry these arms for self- defense, they
are well on their way to pacifying an entire country. You shouldn’t be
allowed to hunt or defend yourself anyway, their god should take care of
you. Right?
In many states, anti-sodomy laws are being revived and targeted at the gay
community, teaching further hate and discrimination. If it’s illegal, it
must be BAD, right? Proponents of these laws also want to make it illegal
for two consenting adults, even man and wife, from having sex for anything
but procreation! All adult stores would be shut down, and sex or nudity of
any form would be removed from ALL media! NO MORE BIRTH CONTROL, EVER! They
want to monitor your home and your thoughts for “wrong” or “immoral”
thinking or activity!
Abortion is a favorite battle cry for these groups, because it is such an
emotional issue for many. They want to make it illegal again, all types,
regardless of circumstance. This is being charitable and caring for their
fellow man/woman? So they can return to the back-alley abortionist or the
ancient practice of the mid-wife miscarriage? What harm will this bring?
Would it be less harmful than the system we have now? Sad as the necessity
is, it is still a reality of the human condition. Removing the cure doesn’t
kill the disease. And this is without access to birth control?
The liquor industry is being targeted as well. A return to prohibition is
being advocated by all of these religious organizations. They envision a
world of temperance, where you would be checked randomly at any time at
work, or at home, for ingestion of alcohol or other stimulants or drugs.
The concept of “If you have nothing to hide, why are you worried?” was
proposed in many fascist, dictatorial countries in the past. In Nazi
Germany, it was the religious conservatives who started the Nazi Party and
all of its atrocities, and it carried out a religious persecution against
Jews. In this country, agnostics, atheists and humanists (and gays) are
being targeted for persecution by the “faithful”.
They preach tolerance, and then when they gain power the first thing they
will do is to try and eradicate any views or beliefs that are different from
their own. They will make community religious participation MANDATORY, and
anyone who chooses not to give lip service to some form of higher power
shall be punished.
All of the worst atrocities and massacres in history were due to religious
conflict or control, based on differences in belief and ideals, or the
attempt to convert or enforce them. From the Crusades in the eleventh
century, to the Dark Ages, the Inquisition, the Spanish/Catholic Conquests,
World War II, the Serbo-Croatian Ethnic Cleansing, even the 9/11 Tragedy was
caused by religious fanatics, and “true believers”.
No amount of “good works” can recoup the damage that has been done. Lets
remove this tribal vestige, this shamanistic and childish belief system, and
replace it with basic concepts of “do no harm”. If no harm comes to anyone
or any property, then there is no crime, or sin. Morality is what is
acceptable by society, not a set of rules written by people who can’t stand
to see anyone else have fun, experience joy, and do so in a framework other
than the one espoused by these “believers.”
Join the fight! Write to your congressman. Write to the President! Protest
these “faith-based” initiatives, they will be the first step on the road to
removing the freedoms this country is all about. My ancestors did not come
here to worship as they wanted, they came to get away from a country where
they were FORCED to worship!
