Taliban, Al-Qaida gain strength |
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - A violent resurgence of Taliban and Al-Qaida
fighters in Afghanistan is putting U.S. soldiers and international aid
workers at increasing risk, especially in the southern part of the
country, the back yard and birthplace of the Taliban.
....
Nearly three years after the U.S. military toppled the Taliban
government in Afghanistan, it's increasingly obvious that the military
effort has failed to fully defeat the enemy, which has regrouped and
now threatens efforts to create a stable government there.

Let us leave that country. It is another Vietnam simply hopeless. It is obvious
that the Bush admin has made some serious mistakes let us pull out now and
minimize our losses

You can't be serious.
What we should be doing is pulling out of Iraq (the sooner the better)
and refocusing our efforts in Afghanistan. The military's primary
objective post 9/11 should've been Afghanistan/Pakistan/Al Qaida. Iraq
wasn't an immediate necessity.
