Ted Kennedy should be in prison |
July 1969, a young woman named Mary Jo Kopechne was a passenger in a
vehicle driven by Sen. Edward Kennedy on Chappaquiddick Island. She
died as a direct result of Sen. Kennedy's actions. Had this case been
properly investigated and prosecuted, Ted Kennedy would have been there
to greet Michael Skakel when he arrived to begin his prison sentence
for murdering a young girl. It's now 2005; when will this case be
re-opened and let justice be served?

What in the hell has this to do with any of the newsgroups you posted
it
to?
that's for you to decide. you choose what you read.
Ummm.. no. Common courtesy says that we post topics relevant to the
newsgroups in which we are posting. This has no relevance to any of the
newsgroups he posted to.
It had revelance to the newsgroup I read it in.
*****.
Actually, so far that's all I have heard from you, *****. Now go
play netcop someplace else. i will and always have posted what I
wanted and read what I wanted, if you don't like it - I suggest you
toss your computer out the window.
But tossing _yours_ out the window (your computer I mean, you
PERVERT!!!) would be _so_ much more fun. ;-)

He's hoping a 35+ year-old scandal will be as inflammatory to lib Dems
as mention of Shrub's present shrinking unpopularity is to neo-con
Repubs, and picked newsgroups he felt would be most likely to include
more liberals.
Frankly, I'm a lib (for the most part), and from what little I know of
the Ted Kennedy thing, I agree with him. But then I admit, I haven't
studied that incident much, so that's not a well-informed opinion. At
least I recognize such a thing when I have it. ;-)

I don't know a whole lot about it either, except that, at the time, I felt
that it should have been investigated a bit further. There was some
controversy over who was driving, then that got settled, then there was some
controversy over who was drunk, and by how much, and that got overlooked
(Part of the reason that Kennedy didn't report it was because he needed time
to sober up, allegedly) Anyway, the whole thing was 35+ years ago and if
anyone can find enough evidence to convict him, then by all means go for it.

Ah, debate. J Young assigns a meaning to "Thirty-six years, and you
just can't let it go..." that is "Everything should be forgotten after
36 years" and attacks that, regardless of any consideration of the
importance of guilt being established. THe rule of law is unimportant
to J Young. Clearly, J Young has to assume T Kennedy's guilt, to make
this argument work.

You should have written "never convicted" not "never committed". To
this day, many law enforcement officials believe that a murder was
committed and later covered-up. Whether the victim was a single
Christian girl or a few thousand Jews is irrelevant. Murder is murder.

OJ Simpson was not convicted, but a civil suit showed that he was

murder for.

Since the only use of "convicted" occurs in a criminal court in the U.S.,

"But glory doesn't mean "a nice knock-down argument," Alice objected.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean--neither more nor less."

committed.
OJ Simpson was not convicted, but a civil suit showed that he was
responsible for the deaths of the two people who he was charged with
murder for.
"Never committed" comes across as an absolute statement.
Since the only use of "convicted" occurs in a criminal court in the
U.S.,
then the statement stands. Not convicted = never committed. The burden
of
proof is entirely different in a criminal court than it is in a civil
court.
Committed does not mean convicted. Ever.
Sorry, but in any country that says that you are innocent until proven
guilty, never convicted = never committed. Period.
What a stupid claim.
What a stupid denial.

"But glory doesn't mean "a nice knock-down argument," Alice objected.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean--neither more nor less."

What is unfortunate is that due to improper handling of evidence and
the police screwing it up, a lot of the evidence was supressed during
the criminal trial; however, in a civil case the rules of evidence
change and a lot of the evidence that couldn't be used in the criminal
trial was used in the civil trial.
This is a good example of why we have so many rules in our court rooms.
Police negligence and mishandling of evidence can ruin a case.

Not to mention a warping of the Jury. Did you know that only three of the
entire 12 member jury graduated High School? Only one had any post primary
education whatsoever. Jury selection was a joke, and the defense knew it.
The jury was incapbable of understanding the DNA evidence, or its
significance, but they understood the race card all too well.

An instructor of mine in college worked in California with the DA's
office and knows a lot more than you or I will ever know about the OJ
Simpson case. She told us somethings that was shocking and never
introduced into court.
Example: Evidence just thrown in the back of a police car and not
turned in for a long period of time.
Chain of evidence, not followed.
They had Ron's blood that was found on the "inside" of the handle on
OJ's Bronco.
The only way it could have gotten there was for it to have been on his
fingers and when he got in the Bronco, as he closed the door the blood
transferred to the inside of the handle.
The whole case was a disastor and a embarrassment to the California
DA's office.
You are right, from Jury selection to improper handling of evidence..OJ
walked.
And get this..he swore he would "find the killer". I don't think you
can find the killer on golf courses in Florida...oh wait...or was the
killer on the golf courses in Florida?

You should have written "never convicted" not "never committed". To
this day, many law enforcement officials believe that a murder was
committed and later covered-up. Whether the victim was a single
Christian girl or a few thousand Jews is irrelevant. Murder is murder.
Well, as there's no statute of limitations on murder I suggest you get
those "many law enforcement officials" to prosecute and convict him.
Then try living in the 21st century with the rest of us, you loser

Let's see.
Ted Kennedy: A single-car accident that led to one (1) death.
Nazi War Criminals: Perpetrated the systimatic extermination of at
least 10 million people in the death camps and elsewhere in the
Ostreich over a period of years. Experimented on humans, tortured,
raped and murdered helpless victims.
I have to ask, do you really believe in the depths of your sick little
mind that these two belong in the same arena? Or are you just that
much of a hater that it all blurs to you?

Some day soon Dubya will face the Court of Justice in the Hague, Milosevic's
crimes were far lesser compared to the crimes of Bush and company. The only
problem is that Bush does not know how to play chess, and will be bored next

However, the technical glitch is that no treaty had been signed
therefore the war had not been concluded, but there was merely a
ceasefire. Since Saddam kept violating the terms of the ceasefire and
never negotiated a treaty, the United States and other nations had the
right to invade and enforce the ceasefire and/or conclude the war that
began in 1991.
