Ted Kennedy should be in prison |
July 1969, a young woman named Mary Jo Kopechne was a passenger in a
vehicle driven by Sen. Edward Kennedy on Chappaquiddick Island. She
died as a direct result of Sen. Kennedy's actions. Had this case been
properly investigated and prosecuted, Ted Kennedy would have been there
to greet Michael Skakel when he arrived to begin his prison sentence
for murdering a young girl. It's now 2005; when will this case be
re-opened and let justice be served?

The UN inspectors provided a means to confirm or deny that
But they were obstructed!!
That's one of my points.
.. They
complained we were giving them useless "intel" and W. and company
called them incompetent for not finding WMDs. Can we measure w. by
the same standard?
Oh, wouldn;t that be nice....
We wanted in. That's all we wanted., It had
nothing to do with Saddam. It had to do with having troops in the Gulf
and redrawing the map and interests for Israel.
You are wrong, of course, & stupidly so.

Oh my fucking Goddess, I never knew you were such a right-wing k00k.
And he's wrong....where?
Well, the fact that he turned out to be a paper tiger should be one big
hint. I think Americans would be wise to learn how to just STFU about
Saddam Hussein, since they only look like paranoid psychos when they talk
about him in the sense of justifying the invasion of Iraq.
By
"violating the terms of the ceasefire", I presume you refer to WMDs, of
the
sort he hasn't had since 1991 or so?
No, he refused to allow UN inspectors in to do their jobs.
He jerked them around for 10 YEARS.
I realize quite well that he may have wanted to keep the illusion that he
had WMDs to keep his other enemies in fear if him - or maybe just
make himself look good to the Irqis - but that's just too bad for him.
And if America has to be invaded and/or destroyed to protect the rest of the
world, that'll be just too bad for America.
Please take note of W's support for managing the "war" numbers, he's
lost his support from the military, he's losing congress, if his support
falls much more expect an impeachment movement to become a reality. Most
Americans don't support the squatter in the White House.

Actually he probably wasn't. Terms of 1991 ceasefire included many things
like inspections (which Saddam refused), agreed destruction of al Samoud 2-missiles
(which Saddam didn't do), et cetera.
Legitimate reasons enough to continue military operations sanctioned under
original UN resolutions.
ObComparison: If North-Korea starts screwing around militarily with
S.Korea, said conflict just *might* technically continue the
enforcement of security council resolution 85, as Korean War ended
in armistice and peace treaty has never been signed...

You'd do well to actually read the document.

not hear of that party again in our political

Nope. There are no UN resolutions that either sanction invasion or
appoint the US and the world's enforcer. There is, however,
international law which condemns the invasion of another country that
is no threat.

Not at all. Eight hours of mindless but productive work that does not give
him enough to live on while making the owner quite wealthy would be far
worse than living under a bridge.
Finding out that tax cuts mean nothing except a new Porsche for the owner.
Finding out that you have to be horribly sick to miss work.
Then finding out the visit to a clinic means the utility bill will not get
paid.
Going to the pharmacy and not having the money for the drugs you need so you
pick the cheapest and walk away scared and embarrassed.
Then you get a tooth-ache...

As his police state crumbled around him, Josef Mengele stated that the
Nazis had always acted with the most noble of intentions and with the
highest ideals, and no doubt everyone he associated with agreed.
Just because Bush, Rove, and Bush's other toadies agreed with each
other doesn't make it true. And believing the pronouncements of
politicians regardless of reality is a sure fire recipe for letting it
happen again. Let's not repeat the same mistakes that all too many
Germans made in the 1930s. It can happen here if we let it.
