Texas GOP Platform |
On June 4, 2004, the Houston Chronicle posted an article by
Clay Robison and John Gonzalez titled: "Taxes, Gays, Abortion
Targeted by State GOP." Go to:
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/metropolitan/2610350
_________________________________________________________________________
Excerpts:
"Texas Republican delegates on Friday adopted an
ultraconservative party platform that attacks a
wide range of targets -- from taxes and homosex-
uality to abortion and the United Nations -- and
gives a mixed review to Gov. Perry's priorities.
[...]
"The Texas Republican Party has long been on record
against hot-button social issues such as abortion,
homosexuality and gay marriage. But the recent
approval of gay marriages in Massachusetts prompted
delegates to strengthen their language on that issue.
"The new platform not only condemns homosexuality
-- 'the practice of sodomy tears at the fabric of
society' -- it also advocates felony penalties for
anyone issuing a marriage license or performing a
marriage ceremony for a same-sex couple.
[...]
"Delegates adopted a plank that strongly supports
the war in Iraq. Another plank re-emphasizes long-
standing conservative antipathy toward the United
Nations by calling for the United States to rescind
its membership in the U.N. and physically evict the
U.N., which is headquartered in New York, from U.S.
soil.

Papa Jack comments:
I remember, when I was growing up, Texas was run by
and for Democrats. My grandfather, a staunch Dem
was a county commissioner for over 30 years back
in the days when LBJ was working his way up the
ladder.
I can tell you from remembering hearing him talk,
my grandfather would have not had many problems
with this so-called ultra conservative GOP plat-
form. I can also tell you he would have held
Kerry in utter contempt.
How things do change.

How do gay marriages "tear at the fabric of society?" What is the "fabric
of society?" They haven't had any effect on my family or friends at all!
Who cares if they marry since it's NONE of anyone's business but their own?

Nice dodge, Jackson...ever consider that the edited tale you're drooling over
had more than a little to do with the lack of respect shown for the two
visitors? That's before you get to that annoying little detail that your holy
book has its place...in a church. No one has to believe as you do, and
whatever cult you belong to can't shove its swill down anyone else's throat.
Romans 1:

So what? Your three-millennia-old fairy tale doesn't provide a basis for law.
What is the "fabric of society?"
A shared culture and sense of moral values. Because we are a "melting pot"
nation, we've adapted to respecting differences of cultural traditions and
moral beliefs.
However, without some sense of shared moral values, we are just a loose
collection of people who happen to live near one another.
....and you're the whiny little git you are because you can't make the rest of
us share YOUR fraud of a "moral code". Way to stumble out of the cantina and
into the ditch, Jackson!
They haven't had any effect on my family or friends at all!
Is that all that matters?
What if I told you thousands of people suffered from the long-term effects of
homosexuality in our society? Would that matter then?
Probably not, as she'd ask you the same thing: where's your proof, Brother
Oral? I guess you'll have to ram your head back into the sand, because about
the *only* long-term effect of homosexuality is this: if you're a gay man,
your preferred sexual partner (and possibly spouse) will not be the same sex
as a heterosexual man's (like me) preferred partner or spouse will be. You
don't have a sufficient foundation to build your campaign of
government-sponsored hate on that, though, thus your less than respectable
tactics.
Who cares if they marry since it's NONE of anyone's
business but their own?
Do you care if a man decides to marry three women at the same time -- if all
of the women agree?
If they consent, what's the problem? (Some Mormons still practice that out in
southwestern Utah. Go whine at them.)
Do you care if a 40-year old man wants to marry a 10-year old little girl?
There *are* reasons for proscribing that.
Do you care if a woman wants to marry her German shepard dog?
Leave it to an alleged "Christian" like you to bring *that* up. Is it too
much for you to figure out that marriage has historically been between humans?
At what point do you care? How far can people go without totally devaluing
the very concept of marriage?
A bit farther than YOU can stand, without devaluing it.
I do not believe our Constitution grants special "RIGHTS" to people based on
their gender confusion.
Idiot. I have the right to marry the consenting adult of my choice -- because
I'm heterosexual, thus the consenting adult is (by definition) female. A
homosexual doesn't have that right. How the hell is correcting *that* error
granting special rights? It's restoring equal rights. What rights of mine
are being infringed upon if same-sex marriage is allowed? None. Period.
Maybe you should grow up and realize that you don't get to dictate how the
rest of us conduct our lives, Jackson.

Not an opinion; a statement of FACT.
Where's the proof of your FACT, dumbass? There are records of Eastern
Orthodox clergy performing such marriages. It might be irrelevant to a
professional idiot like you, but it doesn't do anything for proving your
assertion.
At what point do you care? How far can people go without totally
devaluing the very concept of marriage?
A bit farther than YOU can stand, without devaluing it.
Is a marriage between a father and his ten year old daughter farther than
YOU can stand?
What part of "consenting adults" are you too stupid to understand, Chris?
Was that a "yes" or a "no"?
You're obviously a student of Heishman's School of Reading Incomprehension.
Figure it out for yourself. People with average IQs are capable of doing that
much. What's your excuse?
I do not believe our Constitution grants special "RIGHTS" to people
based on their gender confusion.
Idiot. I have the right to marry the consenting adult of my choice --
because I'm heterosexual, thus the consenting adult is (by definition)
female. A homosexual doesn't have that right. How the hell is
correcting *that* error granting special rights? It's restoring equal
rights.
It follows that women should have the right to walk around in public
topless,
which they already have, in a few places -- so go there and ***** at them.
Let me guess -- you're a regular at Black's Beach.
Not in the least. Nice special pleading though. See what happens to a woman
who decides to walk topless down Broadway in New York City.
Broadway isn't one of those places. Try just about any public place in
Ontario, though -- for starters.

and that 18 year old men should NOT have to register for selective service
(or 18 year old women SHOULD have to register).
There, you *might* have a point, but it's got nothing to do with the rest of

It has EVERYTHING to do with the rest of my "whining". "Equal rights";

You have no idea of what you're whining about, Chris.
It doesn't bother me, but then, I registered the day I turned

Since you've given ample evidence of being too stupid to understand
what
you read, Chris, I suggest you be forcibly dragged back to grade
school
until you learn to speak what I assume is your native language.
Either
that, or you can go find someone else to play your idiot's game. I
have
better ways of using my time in this forum than to waste it on
someone
who clearly isn't interested in dealing with his own ignorance.
Such ignorance being?
...evidenced every time you respond.
Again, such ignorance being?

drooling dolt. (For all you know, I might be a little
less hostile to your act in this newsgroup.)
If you're to the point where you don't know that you don't know, why
bother
with trying to enlighten you? Your mind (assuming you have one) was
made
up long ago, and you've obviously decided you're not going to risk
being
confused by inconvenient facts.
Untrue.
The evidence strongly suggests that you're either truly stupid beyond
belief,
or you're lying and not doing an even remotely credible job of it. Choose
one
of the two.
False dilemma.

Of course it isn't so. Chris falls back on this *****, which he
nearly always uses wrongly, when he has on other answer, which is
often. It impresses his trailer trash friends, so he hopes it will
impress us.
