Texas legislation targeting non-citizen voting planned
AUSTIN - Texas lawmakers will continue studying illegal immigration issues
throughout the next year and plan to file legislation in 2009 dealing with
non-citizen voting and local enforcement immigration law, state leaders said
Thursday.
House Speaker Tom Craddick instructed two House committees to begin public
hearings on the issue of voter fraud and local treatment of illegal
immigrants, with an eye toward keeping the estimated 1.2 million illegal
immigrants out of the polls, reining in so-called sanctuary cities, and
fostering more cooperation between local and federal law enforcement when it
comes to illegal immigration.
The interim charges come as Texas puts into effect seven new laws affecting
illegal immigrants, on the heels of a contentious legislative session in
which immigration-related fights were some of the most bitter and divisive
in both the House and Senate.

It's about time, I'd say.
You got conned... again.
When they say they will study the issue for a few years first, it means
they're ignoring you... again
They aren't *really* studying the issue.
They're just trying to con you into supporting them.... again.
.... and it seems to be working quite well... again.

Republicans pass a bill harrassing people with Hispanic appearance or
Hispanic last names, thereby further alienating the fastest-growing
demographic in the country.
What an *excellent* long-term political strategy. I'm completely in
favor of them pursuing this course.

It is just a co-incidence that there is no evidence that non-citizens
vote, but that actions to prevent this non-occurrence end up stopping
minorities from voting.

Thank you for the original post. If you carefully read both the
Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, it becomes
apparent that the same implies that a nation that fails to protects
it's citizenry from massive illegal immigration negates the natural
purpose of all government: "life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness."
Therefore, it is our right and duty to separate ourselves from any
government which, as is the case with the current federal government,
fails to prevent such massive illegal immigration.

Only if you're like the nazis and believe that immigrants are not
real people and do not deserve "life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness."

As long as you live in the US you agree to be bound by its laws.
