The Iowa Futures Markets |
Has anyone noticed the Iowa Futures Markets on the presidential election?
After an period of several weeks where Bush was up 1 point, beginning about
a week ago it has opened up to a 9 - 10 point lead. In these markets,
people put their money where there mouths are, and the markets usually do
better than polls at predicting results.

Wow, that is interesting.
http://128.255.244.60/graphs/graph_Pres04_VS.cfm
And it sound like gambling but this is in their FAQ:
"Is it legal?
YES. The IEM is under the regulatory purview of
the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
The CFTC has issued a "no-action" letter to the IEM,
stating that as long as the IEM conforms to certain
guidelines, the CFTC will take no action against it.
We do not file reports required by regulation, though,
so technically speaking the IEM is not regulated by,
nor are its operator registered with, the CFTC."
Man, I wish I had thought of that.
I wonder if I could start a football 'futures market'.

If Bush runs on his record rather than attacking Kerry with lies and deceit,
he will lose big in November.

Only a far left kook could claim that exposing the truth about John Kerry is
lying.

And only a bootlicking Bush lapdog and neocon wingnut would claim that lies

That isn't what I see. Check the "Winner Takes All" stock charts.
Early in the year, Bush was ahead. Then through June and July, they
were very close. But during last few weeks, Bush has gone ahead and
Kerry has fallen. http://www.biz.uiowa.edu/iem/about/

Thanks for reminding me to check. I have money invested in some of
the futures. I made quite a bit on the California recall election and
have re-invested it in the outcome of the presidential election.

Nothing to worry about here. Bush is poised to win reelection in a landslide.

Yeah.
We have to wait and see. But the US has lost all international respect,
whoever wins. Bush will have to eat even more humble pie than has bĦeen
forced between his lying lips already, as he hurries and scurries back to
the despised United Nations for more help.
That will be nice to see, if nothing else.

The choice of cross-posted groups here is fascinating ... but the troll is
not working well (except for David_G who seems to like the argument.)
Tech groups snipped, follow-ups set to alt.spacebastards only (just for
the fun of it.)
