titled "Listen to Those Who Served with Kerry in Vietnam."
http://www.humaneventsonline.com/article.php?id=4681
______________________________________________________________________________
Excerpts:
[...]
"We decided to heed Sen. Edwards' advice and found
what approximately 200 of Kerry's fellow 'Swifties'
think of him, including Rear Admiral Roy F. Hoffman,
USN (Retired). Admiral Hoffman said this of the
liberal Massachusetts Senator:
"I do not believe John Kerry is fit to be
commander in chief of the armed forces of
the United States. This is not a political
issue. It is a matter of his judgment,
truthfulness, reliability, loyalty, and
trust -- all absolute tenets of command."
"Admiral Hoffman, along with Captain Charley Plumbly,
USN (ret.), Alvin A. Horne, Bill Lannom, John O'Neill,
Way Symmes, William E. Franke, and about 200 other
'Swifties' were signatories of an open letter to Sen.
Kerry, which is sourced in a yet-to-be-released book
-- Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out
Against John Kerry.
"This letter states, in part:
"It is our collective judgment that, upon
your return from Vietnam, you grossly and
knowingly distorted the conduct of the
American soldiers, marines, sailors and
airmen of that war (including a betrayal
of may of us, without regard for the danger
you actions caused us). Further, we believe
that you have withheld and/or distorted
material facts as to your own conduct of
the war.
"We believe you continue this conduct today,
albeit by changing from an anti-war to a
'war hero' status. You now seek to clad
yourself in the very medals that you dis-
dainfully threw away in the early years of
your political career. In the process, we
believe you continue a deception as to your
own conduct through such tactics as the
disclosure of only carefully screened por-
tions of your military records. Both then
and now, we have concluded that you have
deceived the public, and in the process
have betrayed honorable men, to further
your personal political goals.
"You conduct is such as to raise substan-
tive concerns as to your honesty and your
ability to serve, as you currently seek,
as Commander-in-Chief of the military
services. [...]
"Senator Kerry, we were there. We know the
truth. We have been silent long enough.
The stakes are too great, not only for
America in general but, most importantly,
for those who have followed us into service
in Iraq and Afghanistan. We call upon you
to provide a full, accurate accounting of
your conduct in Vietnam."

Those who served with Kerry were on stage the other night at the DNC.
They told us first hand the admiration that have for him and his
heroics.

You are nothing but a liar. How the hell do you look in the mirror?
Do you really have no honor or self respect whatsoever?

At least Kerry has folks who remember him serving. It seems Bush can't
find anyone at all, let alone those who might try to deny stuff.

Military service, or lack threof, certainly didn't seem to be an issue
with your crowd when you had a draft-dodging rapist, perjurer and
sexual degenerate in the Oval Office, now did it? What happened that
you people all of a sudden got the military fever, Galen?

hey cleo/marie...
what people was it who posed in uniform on the deck of a carrier proudly
proclaiming the war resulting from the usa's illegal invasion was over?
did galen do that?
but galen isn't running for president anyway.
i take it you agree that bush misrepresented his military service?
hey how many soldiers have been killed since tat end-of-war announcement.
who was the commander in chief who sent them to die without their
protective armor?

You must have me confused with someone who gives a damn about *anyone's*
military service. I just find it rather hard to believe that he could be
in some unit yet NO ONE can remember him. Especially with a name like
"Bush"!

This becomes even more curious considering that everyone in your crowd
now hailing this mountebank as a miltary hero served in a war his
generation is on record as calling immoral and evil, many of them
spitting on returning GIs from that war. Add to that the fact that
he's a self-confessed war criminal and we just can't make heads or
tails of this Born Again Jingoism. Hee hee!

Not everyone is hailing Kerry as some kind of military hero. Many of us
hail him just because he isn't part of the George Bush regime. (Not that
Kerry doesn't have a lot of good qualities on his own.)

Some of those who served with Kerry were on stage with him "the other night" at
the Democratic National Convention.
Others of those who served with Kerry signed that letter.
It seems that Vietnam vets don't all have the same politics, anymore than
Americans all have the same politics.
John Kerry is on the record as having spoken out strongly against the war in
Vietnam, as part of "Vietnam Veterans Against the War". Some of those who served
in Vietnam believed very much in what they were doing there, and would naturally
have felt that this sort of activity undermined their chances of achieving what
they were there for - a victory that would protect the freedom of the people of
South Vietnam. Others, though, may well have felt he was entitled to his opinion,
particularly since the ranks of American forces in Vietnam were largely filled by
conscripts.
I suppose that it still remains the case for any American voter that whether or
not John Kerry ought to be considered fit for the job of President boils down to
how that voter feels about his stands on the issues.

"A Swift Boat is a 22-ton, heavily-armed, 50-foot,

utility boats servicing oil platforms and other
offshore facilities in the Gulf of Mexico today.
These boats were known by the U. S. Navy designa-

"A Swift Boat crew usually consisted of five enlisted
personnel led by one officer-in-charge. This officer
was normally an Ensign or a Lieutenant Junior Grade,
23 to 27 years old. All were volunteers and almost
all of them developed a fierce love for their boats."
