George Bush has been telling the Christian Church that he is against =
abortion and has gone so far as sign a partial birth abortion ban. But =
does this mean that he will put justices on the Supreme Court bench that =
will be against free choice. You can read what George Bush said the =
night of the last debate. Bush was pressured with this very question =
and George Bush responded. Please read his response. In his response, =
you will find George Bush saying "I will pick judges who will interpret =
the Constitution".
Several decades ago Row vs. Wade became the law of the land. It =
permitted women to make a choice of whether or not to get an abortion. =
Opponents of the ruling termed it the ruling requiring a woman to get an =
abortion if she chooses. There is a big difference. The Court =
indicated the matter so personal that only the woman could make the =
choice and subsequently made their ruling. IT SHOULD BE INTERESTING TO =
YOU THAT THIS ISSUE HAD ALREADY BEEN HEATING UP LONG PRIOR TO THE =
COURT'S DECISION AND THEN PRESIDENT RICHARD NIXON APPOINTED A SUPREME =
COURT JUDGE THAT WAS ANTI-ABORTION. EVERYONE KNEW THIS JUDGE'S POSITION =
ON ABORTION, HENCE THE REASON FOR THE APPOINTMENT. HOWEVER, WHEN THE =
CASE WAS HEARD THIS JUDGE SIDED WITH THE MAJORITY AND WROTE THE LANGUAGE =
ALLOWING ABORTION. Now ain't this a kick in the buttocks.
Now...to the litmus test George Bush will not make. He will NOT, as he =
answer's the question, have a litmus test. The litmus test is whether =
or not Bush will appoint anti-abortion judges to the Supreme Court. You =
see, he is playing politics here, pandering to the women and Church, and =
will NOT TAKE A STANCE because he knows it will cost him votes.

In one of the more striking moments of the evening, Mr. Kerry pledged =
that he would not appoint anyone to the Supreme Court who would overturn =
the right to abortion. Mr. Bush, who is a strong opponent of abortion, =
and whose election strategy this year has emphasized turning out his =
conservative base, declined to answer a similar question from the =
moderator, Bob Schieffer of CBS News. Instead, he reverted to what he =
said when he first ran for president in 2000, by declaring he would not =
impose a "litmus test" on any judicial nomination.
"What he's asking me is, will I have a litmus test for my judges?" he =
said. "And the answer is no, I will not have a litmus test. I will pick =
judges who will interpret the Constitution, but I'll have no litmus =
tests."
Mr. Kerry, who has been repeatedly taunted by Mr. Bush for waffling on =
key questions, cracked a smile.
"Well, again, the president didn't answer the question,'' he said. "I'll =
answer it straight to America. I'm not going to appoint a judge to the =
court who's going to undo a constitutional right whether it's the First =
Amendment or the Fifth Amendment or some other right that's given under =
our courts today under the Constitution."
=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3Dend of debate for =
this comment=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D-=3D
Now we hear from the mouth of George Bush and assume his answer =
regarding his intentions that he will not appoint to the court someone =
who's going to undo...........some other right that's given under our =
courts today under the Constitution". The "some other right" is =
abortion. You see, he is playing politics here, pandering to the women, =
and will NOT TAKE A STANCE because he knows it will cost him votes. =
George Bush has aligned himself with the Christian Church and those who =
are Pro-Life, yet Bush did not have the brass monkeys to tell us his =
position with respect to appointments to the Supreme Court. We all KNOW =
he would support Pro-Life choices, yet he did not have the courage to =
tell us during the debates........a cowardly approach in my opinion. =
Thus the answer he gave us is nothing more than another LIE He has a =
litmus test and he will use it although he told us he would not take =
away "some other right" issued pursuant to a Court Order. Will the real =
George Bush please stand up?
Right of Choice is a RIGHT issued by the Supreme Court and George Bush =
has just said that he would not appoint anyone that would =
undermine/overturn this Supreme Court granted right. This right came as =
a result of the Court interpreting the Constitution. The Court as well =
as the President is bound by law to defend the Constitution and the =
right thereof derived. So you have the truth. Bush and the Republican =
party have had many opportunities to amend the Constitution but have =
never done so. WHY? Because a constitutional ban on abortion would =
take away a plank of the Republican platform which divides the parties. =
The Republican party desires this division to remain because it creates =
division and a chance to win Christian voters to the Party away from =
Democrats.. Let us pretend the Republican Party was instrumental in =
obtaining enough votes to amend the Constitution and make abortion =
illegal. One might tend to think this would win over many Christian and =
non-Christian, even Democrats. For a period of time, this might occur. =
But in the looooong run, people tend to forget the good deeds of the =
past and concentrate on the PRESENT. =20
In the minds of the public, the issues are 1. Jobs, 2. Health Care 3. =
Education 4. War on Terror.=20
