Perhaps it varies by location, I'm not sure. One of the UW's of
Western PA has reported it as high at 70%. I'll see if I can locate

I'm not sure. But, I do know that it's the reason I no longer give to
UW, but give directly to the member agencies - cut out the middleman.

Or not. Many poor people do work very hard, but don't have the
necessary skills to get a job that pays anything other than minimum
wage. I've seen this.
In fact, my wife, myself and our children do volunteer work for one of
the christmas gift programs at one of the local churches. On gift
distribution day, I saw a man come in who I knew. He had lost a VERY
good paying job two months prior and was working two jobs to try to
make ends meet. He said that he had to swallow his pride and take food
stamps and other assistance to provide for his family. His wife
admitted to being ashamed to have to come apply to the program so that
their children would have christmas gifts on christmas morning, and
broke down right there.
He was POOR, working his ***** off, and still not making it. Granted,
some poor people are lazy, but that's not the case with all them, and
you're stereotyping them as such is WRONG.
