".........Go and Sin No More!........."
There's a difference between a sin and a crime.
If it's a crime you can get locked-up in jail.

I wrote and posted this years ago(2000). Looking back, it's quite a
piece.
My original post:
"Go and Sin No More", said Jesus to the prostitute(Earl pointed
out that it was actually an Adulteress, as if the meaning of the
message would become convoluted)!
However, it can be implied that the people who were going to stone her
can continue on in their sinful ways, Right? Or are they to wait for
the adulteress to stop sinning first and then they will stop also?
My point here is NO! The people are to go and sin no more also. Just
because Jesus didn't tell them to, I think he is relying on us to use
common sense. DUH! As for who stops sinning first? Is that our job?
Can this paradigm, from hooker 101, be applied to
stoning(i.e. persecution/oppressing) gays as well?
Dion, you are correct. Jesus didn't single out one group of sinners
and not the others as being condemned to hell. Why is it that in a nation
which claims to have its values deeply rooted in biblical teaching, can tolerate
heterosexual perversion and even openly accommodate it, but when homosex
is on the board, things come to a screeching halt?
If it's out of fear, that is understandable, imo. I say then that it
is now time for America to pick up that bible and for ALL
SINNERS to repent from their ways, not just gays, or adulterers, or
thieves, or etc, but EVERYBODY. I have said before, "We're gonna get
it right before the stories over.". Heterosexual America must
recognize that up until homosex became an issue, they have accommodated
and assisted the ushering in of heterosexual corruption. They weren't as adamant
about fighting against the moral deterioration of the fabric of this nation
until GAY became an issue. NO, it's not too late, but in order to
resolve 'THE ISSUE" all of the issues must be dealt with. One way heterosexual
U.S.A. can begin showing how true they are to repenting from their sinful ways is by
reducing that divorce rate, by any percentage. To date, it has been
increasing with no end in sight. Does this look like a people who want
to repent from their sinful ways or does it sound like hypocrites who
want to enjoy the fruit of the land, while practicing sin, yet deny
others to do the same?
A MORAL SOCIETY WITH AN IMMORAL FACADE!!!
I.E. "OH WHERE MARRIED NOW, FOR THE 10TH TIME."

Not necessarily. A few years ago, the Pope declared that traffic violations, among other
such petty crimes, were to be considered venal sins.
