It was more a calculated risk. The Dems put it on the table 'to get
it out in the open', but more importantly, to get it *in* Congress.
There, it may have passed by the Republican Majority; we all know
what hawks THEY are, and then the Dems and esp J F'n Kerry could
have said, "See! See! The Republicans passed a draft bill", and
NOBODY would have pointed out it was a Democrat bill in the first
place. Since it DIDN'T pas, now it's "We just wanted to show you
what the Reps were thinking". Yeah, *****.

Um, I voted for it before I voted against it?
Also, what kind of fools send troops into batlle without body
armour, armoured vehicles, proper ammunition, etc? Democrats!

The republicans have control. After the war on Iraq and all the other
problems (budget etc), why would you find any of them credible? If
they decide they want the draft, they will simply change the facts and
pretend they never voted against it.

Er...that's the Kerry line. You got the names mixed up. It was a Democrat
bill, and the maker of it voted against it himself. Now THAT'S what I call a
flip flop "I wrote the bill before I voted against it".

The point to the bill dearie was to wake up the US and let them know
that the war should not just be waged on the shoulders and lives of
the National Guard members. Not to pass it.

that was a flip flop - just ones the republicans pretended were flip
flops that fools never looked past the sound bite on.
