guessing every major religion had slaves. Jews, Christians, Moslems,
whatever. These were shameful times. But how long do we have to be
reminded that this went on, we know it went on for along time. Your

For example the USA and Britain were overwhelmingly Christian.
Neither country said "hey, you're right" when Wilberforce started his
campaign, which took years.
It started in England with the Committee for the Abolition of the
Slave Trade in May 1787, and it took until 1834. Was it the minority
of atheists and Jews who weren't even allowed in parliament who
objected and made it take so long?
And in the US it took even longer. It took the Thirteenth Amendment in
1865. The end of the civil war.
Again, was it the minority of atheists and Jews who made it take so
long by objecting?
Or the Christian slave owners of the South?

where I ever invoked William Wilberforce (1759-1833) as having anything
to do with slavery practiced by Romans.
The broad scope of slavery in the pre-christian as well as the
