Two sisters arrested after she put newborn in trash - cops

A young Brooklyn mother was charged with murder yesterday for allegedly
placing her newborn baby girl in a trash bag and leaving her to die in the
cold, cops said.
The dead infant was found inside the bag behind Laura Sergio's Bay Ridge
home just hours after the 25-year-old was rushed to a hospital with severe
abdominal pain, cop sources said.
Sergio's sister, Andria, 27, was charged with improper disposal of a human
body for allegedly moving the child after she had already died.
Another sister, Cara Sergio, 29, was charged with obstructing governmental
administration for hindering the investigation.
Laura Sergio complained to her parents Friday evening that her stomach was
aching, and they later found her unconscious and bleeding in a bathroom
inside their Colonial Road home.
A volunteer ambulance service rushed Sergio to Lutheran Medical Center,
where doctors determined she had recently given birth.
"Where's the baby?" a doctor asked her, a police source said.
"It wasn't me," she responded, according to the source. "There's no baby."
But a hospital worker called police about 2:50 a.m. yesterday, and cops
found the dead newborn wrapped in a towel and stuffed inside a black plastic
bag on the back porch of the woman's home. A second bag contained bloody
towels.
The police source said Sergio denied to cops that she had given birth, oddly
pointing at her flat stomach as evidence. "It's not mine," she repeated, the
source said.
Laura Sergio was still at Lutheran Medical Center when she was placed under
arrest, cops said.
An Easter decoration was stuck to the front door of the house Laura Sergio
shares with her parents and two sisters yesterday. Just a few feet away,
yellow crime-scene tape cordoned off the area where the infant was found.
Passersby shook their heads in disbelief at the news.
"I just wish people knew the options out there," said Laura Feeney, 34, who
adopted her daughter, Jordan, two years ago after someone abandoned her at a
hospital. "It's not a crime to have a baby. It's a crime what you do
afterward."
Under the state's Safe Haven law, parents can leave a baby within five days
of birth at a hospital, firehouse, police station or any other safe location
without facing charges.
"I know what a gift I have," Feeney said, staring at her daughter in a
stroller. "I don't understand why this keeps happening."

"Christian" in name only, or a zealous morontheist? The article doesn't say.
Not that I hold sympathy for morontheists, but to be fair, this may have
been just a "go to church every now and then and try to be a bit like
jebus" one. Like most christians over here. In everyday life they have much
more in common with agnostics/atheists.
Not that this means any excuse to what the mom did to her child... but hey,
there are so many legitimate reasons to bash the jebus cult, we can safely
stick to the confirmed cases ;)

No need to apologize for amoral murderous christian scum.
Aaaaah, let's be fair, if that woman happened to be an atheist, you wouldn't
want others to claim "see what monsters atheists are", would you (assuming
you are one)?
Yes she's a criminal and deserves punishment that fits the crime. But if she
was one of those christians who just go to church at Yuletide, err,
christmas and in everyday life try to be a bit like their jebus maybe once
a month, stressing her CINO nature wouldn't exactly be a proper thing to
do.
If she's a full-blown morontheist, of course... ;)
