Hollywood actor Mel Gibson said he once contemplated committing suicide by
throwing himself out of a window.
According to The Sun, while on a US TV show the Lethal Weapon star
admitted that he was at the lowest point in his life after becoming an alcoholic
in the early 90s.
Mel, 57, told the programme: "I just didn't want to go on. I was looking
down and thinking, 'Man, this is just easier this way.'
"You have to be mad, you have to be insane, to despair in that way."
But the father-of-seven battled his way back by turning to God: "I think I
just hit my knees. I just said 'Help.' Pain is the precursor to change, which is
great. That's the good news."
While on the show Mel also defended his latest directorial contribution,
The Passion of The Christ, insisting the film isn't anti-Semitic.

You are too kind. You didn't get into Mel's discussion of his addictive
personality and range of vice outside alcoholism. Sounds a lot like
Dubya, and probably a common syndrome. I don't think Mel has a bit of
education, so I doubt he had much but religion to fall back upon when he
fell apart. [I'm going by the Sawyer morning interview -- didn't waste my
time with the whole show.]
