A visibly upset Britney Spears has left the LA courthouse where she faced ex-husband
Kevin Federline in the bitter custody battle over their two kids.
Spears appeared "extremely distraught", with one observer saying she was crying
during the private hearing, celebrity website TMZ reported.
The fallen pop star reportedly went to the bathroom three times during the hearing
and extra claims Spears shouted "Eat it, lick it, snort it, ***** it" when a reporter
asked her how she was doing.
An Us Magazine journalist also claims to have borne the brunt of Spears' tirade.
In the morning session, lawyers for Spears and Federline sparred over whether the
singer's disposition would be videotaped. A court official ruled it would not.
Spears and Federline were ordered to appear in person in the afternoon when the judge
was expected to hear updates on whether the parents had complied with previous
orders, including Spears' random drug tests.
Before the media was kicked out of the closed hearing, Federline reportedly kept his
eyes on Spears as he walked into the room, while the starlet avoided his gaze.
The reason behind the Toxic singer's emotional appearance may have been the parenting
coach that had been observing Spears' visits with her children Sean Preston, two, and
Jayden James, one, TMZ said.
Federline's lawyers told reporters after the hearing that the court would issue a
written ruling on Monday or Tuesday next week over the fate of the couple's children.
Since the 25-year-old's split with Federline a year ago, Spears has made headlines
through drug rehab stints and clashes with the paparazzi. She became the butt of many
jokes after being photographed in public without wearing her underwear.
In recent weeks the judge, Commissioner Gordon, has taken away visitation rights from
Spears, before reinstating them after she complied with his rulings.
Meanwhile on Thursday, a judge dismissed an automobile hit-and-run case against
Spears after she settled with the owner of the car, and pleaded not guilty to a
lesser charge of driving without a license.
