PS- As far as spanking *children*....Well, that's different.
As a father of 5, I believe I have some insight into this.
1) Hitting a kid past the age of around 2, is counterproductive.
2) Hitting a kid younger than that can be an effective tool in the
parent's bag of tricks.
3) Before you spank your child, be sure that *you* are not angry.
4) If you leave marks on the yoot, then that's just plain abuse.
Being a parent is more than teaching your kids to hunt, fish, shoot,
and
all the other fun things. It means being the rock in their lives.
Forever.
None of my children swear when I'm around. Why do you suppose that is?
I'm the rudest mother-fucker on the planet, but I never swear around
my kids
and they don't swear around me. Respect.

Everything I have seen in my life says to me
dialog and wisdom is better than spanking.
