Object: 10 Worst Britons
The BBC History magazine in its January edition publishes a
list of the 10 Worst Britons as nominated by ten 'leading'
historians.
Amongst them was one Dr. Titus Oates
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titus_Oates
A protestant he engineered the brutal execution of catholics
There are also a couple of former Archbisops of Canterbury
in there one of them a Saint.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Beckett
Thomas Arundel specialised in persecuting unorhodox
religions belief
http://www.nndb.com/people/060/000107736/
Oswald Mosley is included (a fascist persecuter
of Jews) as is The Duke Of Cumberland who
ruthlessly hunted down Jacobites after the Battle of
Culloden regarding Scottish Highlanders as "inhuman
savages" We do not know who the original Jack the
Ripper was but most of us know about King John.
My personal choice would be Margaret Thatcher
from my lifetime.

High rate of probability Jack the Ripper was a person who was shortly
thereafter sent to an insane asylum.

My personal choice would be Margaret Thatcher

If we're doing politics, I'd add David 'Dr Death' Owen whose adventurism
and arrogance perpetuated the Thatcher years and paved the way for the
equally awful Tony Blair. Surely the worst Briton in living memory has to
be Harold Shipman, and the worst living Briton Rosemary West.
The bloodthirstiest religious bigot in British history has to be Queen
Mary, then Sean McStiofain - faux Irishman, Catholic convert and
remorseless terrorist. We all know who the most awful Protestant bigot is,
and his intonations will ring in our ears from beyond the grave.

Being a bigot does not in itself make a person bad enough to
qualify. At least Paisley spoke out against violence. He undoubtedly
help cause the 'troubles' to be worse and go on longer than they

Patrick brought it to Ireland. England has several saints who

Yes.

Which was overwhelming, sadly enough.

They have more in common with Typhoid Mary than many people care to
