Just to point out, Platoon was written and directed by Oliver Stone.
Stone, who volunteered for service as an infantryman in Vietnam,
served with both the 25th Infantry Division and the 1st Cavalry
Division.

Platoon was based on the things he himself saw during his tour of
duty. A tour where he earned both the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart
(he was shot in the neck.)

pascal lived BEFORE the age of communist regimes.

one could argue that communism (belief therein) IS a religious conviction
and thus does not disprove (or offer countering evidence) to pascal's
claim., or say that pascal was making an observation, not a prediction
(since communism did not exist in 1662). thus, the quote is outdated at
best, since pascal never experienced the most significant contributor to
human evil in RECENT history, which is communim. atheistic communism, i
might add. how ironic. far more evil committed by "true believers" in
communism, who simultaneously denied the existence of god. and

those who religious conviction IN A DEITY in recent history. although,

the islamists keep it up, they might trump communism.

If communism is atheist, then how come there are lots and lots of
religous communes? How come even here in the good ole USA there are
fundimentalist christian communes?
