These may be the exceptions or not but there are priests that do what
they are supposed to do and not "mess with the choir boys" so to speak.

Jesus never said that a priest couldn't beat off to an old copy of
"Playboy" in the rectory.

Not all have issues like that. I have met a few that are truly decent
fellows and really believe in helping others. More often than not they
were ostracized by the church but that is another story.

"many" not "all". So tell us the other story. We may get a laugh out

I see no word like "some" "few" "many" or any other loosly quantifying
word
in it. He did qualify his second statement but it is assumed that his
statement is based on perception and not fact. One could argue that
his second statement is false but it would be rather pointless as there
is no reliable data.

Some of my perceptions are based on my direct experiences with a local
priest, that cost the local RCC $600,000 in damages, after having fled
justice here in the US and returned to his home country of Ireland,
leaving his older brother holding the bag, so to speak, for a string of
sexual misconduct charges with a number of the alter boys of a local
parish. While I am not absolutely sure, I have been given to understand
that this priest was specifically sent to the local parish, to be placed
under the guidance of his older brother, the head of the local parish,
in hopes of him controlling his younger brothers unseemly urges. In fact
I met the man and spoke with him a number of years prior to the point
his pedophilia was brought to light. He swore like a storm trooper and
drank like a fish, the few times that he was in the shop that a group of
friends and I were working on a race car in. Frankly I found it somewhat
incongruous that he be charged with these offences, given his conduct
and demeanor when around adult males in a non-church setting. But masses
of evidence and his flight as well as the payment of damages seem to
rather conclusively prove otherwise.

This same church was home to a choir director who is serving 20 years
for violation of probation stemming from molestation charges. This was
just last year.

I was trying to make the point that this has been a problem with priests
of the RCC for an extended period of time, at least 50+ years. As
demonstrated by the comment to which I was responding.

To say that there is no reliable data is utterly ridiculous, as
demonstrated by this paragraph.

How much more evidence do you think that you need, before admitting that
this was and is a very wide spread problem in the American Catholic
Church, not only among the priests but others associated with the RCC
church as well and other denomination as well? At the time of the
article that I quoted from above, in 2001 half a decade ago, over a
Billion in damages having been paid out by the RCC, with another half
Billion pending. It is also very well known that the RCC has gone to
great lengths to, cover up, shield, as well as play a shell game with
problem priests for many years. From this it is patently obvious that
this is simply the tip of the iceberg with regard to this problem, with
only the most egregious problems being brought to light.

My statements were meant to further indicate the depth and duration of
this problem. As indicated by my response to a previous statement
alluding to the fact that this was a known problem with priests at least
50 years ago.
