I like the part about him being put a in treatment program. Needs to break
that sugar habit. Won't be able to associate with other kids who take
sugar. Or go in to any store that sells any products containing sugar
(which would includ the school cafeteria, of course).
Every single person involved in this arrest should be locked up forever.

That is why "Zero Tolerance" is so dangerous.
The school needs to look in it's own kitchen. There are many "look alike"
drugs in it like flour, corn starch, salt, sugar, .....
The "look alike" addition is one of the most insane things I've ever
heard. Locally (pre-Katrina) there was a nasty blow up over a "look alike"
hissy fit.
A single mother who worked as a bartender (in one of the billion bars in
New Orleans) apparently had the supplies for making "jello shots" at her
house and apparently had *also made, you know, jello.
Her daughter, being a kid, thought the little plastic containers were
"neat" and put jello in them which she passed out to friends at the bus
stop. She was, of course, hauled off in handcuffs and *almost taken away
from her mother *despite the fact that there wasn't any alcohol involved
in the least.
You want to talk *hypocrisy? What it is this city advertises to the entire
***** planet? "Come to our big drunken parties! Twenty-four hour bars!
No closing time! Wheeee!"
This is also the state that lost its highway funds because the "drinking
age" was "how much money you got kid?"
But we sure put a stop to that... that... *jello!
Despite the fact that the school was utterly wrong, they had the mother
over a barrel. Single mother, trying to make ends meet, couldn't afford a
big legal battle. She caved in to some "agreement" that's not public but
last I heard the school was demanding she go to some kind of "classes" and
such (I guess to teach her what a Bad Person she is). She originally said
she was going to fight them but gave in because her daughter was missing
school and the reeducation camp... erm, counselling sessions were a
condition for lifting the suspension.
I'm sure the school board discussed their victory over martinis at lunch...

Bring powdered sugar to school, go to prison in Bush's Amerikkka.
That's just fucking insane! Probation? "Look-alike drug"? WTF?
That is why "Zero Tolerance" is so dangerous.
The school needs to look in it's own kitchen. There are many "look
alike" drugs in it like flour, corn starch, salt, sugar, .....
Oh, but *they're* spechul....

I hope the officials who forced this charade on the kid are punished in

I have the solution. All children, before entering
school, strip nekkid (that's Texican for "naked").
They will be issued Approved School Supplies
(including, of course, New Testaments) and
surgeons' paper garb scaled down for kids.
See, easy.

Effectively, the US is a theocratic police state ruled by a dictator
with a rubber stamp Cabinet, Congress, and a stacked 'Supreme' Court
that can't reason its arse from a hole in the ground in a country that
rewards idiocy and incompetance.

Boy charged with felony for carrying sugar
February 11, 2006
BY JUSTINA WANG
A 12-year-old Aurora boy who said he brought powdered sugar to school
for a science project this week has been charged with a felony for
possessing a look-alike drug, Aurora police have confirmed.
The sixth-grade student at Waldo Middle School was also suspended for
two weeks from school after showing the bag of powdered sugar to his
friends.
The boy, who is not being identified because he is a juvenile, said he
brought the bag to school to ask his science teacher if he could run an
experiment using sugar.
Two other boys asked if the bag contained cocaine after he showed it to
them in the bathroom Wednesday morning, the boy's mother said.
He joked that it was cocaine, before telling them, "just kidding," she
said.
Aurora police arrested the boy after a custodian at the school reported
the boy's comments. The youngster was taken to the police station and
detained, before being released to his parents that afternoon.
"This is getting ridiculous," said the boy's mother. "They treated my
son like a criminal. .. . This is no way to treat a 12-year-old kid."
East Aurora School District officials declined to comment on the case,
citing privacy issues.
The district issued a written statement, which said: "The dangers of
illegal drugs and controlled substances are clear.
Could get probation
"Look-alike drugs and substances can cause that same level of danger
because staff and students are not equipped to differentiate between the
two."
The school handbook states that students can be suspended or expelled
for carrying a look-alike drug.
Penalties for juveniles are decided on a case-by-case basis, but if
convicted, the sixth-grader could likely face up to five years'
probation, said Jeffery Jefko, deputy director of Kane County juvenile
court services.
Juveniles who have prior criminal records could also be placed in a
residential treatment program if convicted, he said.
