It depends on the version of christianity you buy into.
Some claim he was a prophet and nothing more as is described in the OT.
The idea that a god would become a man was *not* something the Jews
believed in.
Some believe that Jesus is just another aspect of a single god.
A man can be a father, a baseball player, and a loving son. One person three
aspects.
The vast majority of christianity believe that there are THREE separate gods
who are ONE god. (There are different versions of this belief, having to do
with when Jesus became one of the big three...)
Naturally all of them say everybody but them is wrong.

Let's not forget that since the theists insist there's a 'Father' God and a
'Son' 'God, that it stands to reason that there's a 'Mother' God too!

I remember reading a while back that some of the Pre-Nicean Christians
believed the Trinity to be "Father, Mother, and Son" rather than
"Father, Son, and Holy Ghost", but they were outvoted at Nicea.
Now, however, the xians don't think of a "Mother" God. True, the Roman
Catholics are fond of referring to St. Mary as "Mother of God", but
when they're questioned about it, they run to their priest, who then
explains to them that this means "mother who was chosen by God to bear
His Son". It's not unlikely, though, that their exaltation of Mary was
initially a compromise with the "Father, Mother, and Son"
trinitarians.

Nice explanation. It seems rather odd that a council of mortal men can
decide by 'voting' whether or not there is or *isn't* a 'Mother' God.
Logic -- even when we are referring here to the imaginary -- dictates there
was a 'pre-Virgin Mary' Mother 'God'. And this is based solely on the 'fact'
that the theists maintain there is both a 'Father' and a 'Son' God. And that
the 'Son' God was a 'Son' God *before* he became incarnate. I'd love to hear
what the regular theists have to say about all this. Mommy 'God', theists,
or not?

Nice explanation. It seems rather odd that a council of mortal men can
decide by 'voting' whether or not there is or *isn't* a 'Mother' God.

They voted on a lot of issues that Christians nowadays consider to be
revelations from God.

Logic -- even when we are referring here to the imaginary -- dictates there
was a 'pre-Virgin Mary' Mother 'God'. And this is based solely on the 'fact'
that the theists maintain there is both a 'Father' and a 'Son' God. And that

I dunno about generic theists, but I do know that Christians don't
give a damn about logic. If they're even capable of logical thought,
that is, and most of them aren't.

they heard somewhere and found convenient. And they repeat it with the

Mother and Son. from http://www.piney.com/HsMindHist.html

Note that this page offers no reference for such a curious statement.
The idea that such an idea appears among Christians post Nicaea seems
extraordinary.

Still, these references are from modern-day Arians, e.g. Jehovah's
Witnesses, and so should be skeptically examined (because we know that
all Christians are liars <disgust>).

Quite why Arians and JW's -- neither being Christians -- should be
sceptically examined because "Christians are liars" is not explained.

Let me get this straight. The 1st Commandment is : HAVE NO OTHER GODS
What?! There are other gods? But I can't have them? This seems like an
admission from the "One True God" that there are other gods. If there
are indeed other gods, how is it that I cannot have them? Am I not to
believe in them and then they disappear? Or are they there whether I
believe it or not, causing me to have them, if only to the extent that
they povide some back pressure to obeying the OTG? Or is a god there
only if I believe it? It seems more like the gods I am not to have are
equal to the god I am supposed to have, and since not having them is
so easily commanded against, then not having any gods seems just as
likely.

+++++++++++++

2nd Commandment: DO NOT MAKE IDOLS

What about jesus on the cross?
