A U.S. military probe finds that troops who fired a
120 mm tank round into the Palestine Hotel in Baghdad
in April -- killing two journalists and wounding
three -- thought they were shooting at an enemy
spotter during heavy fighting, according to Central
Command. A report on the military's investigation
said the troops did not know the journalists were
using the building as headquarters during the war.
Another blatant lie. It was well know the media were in
that hotel, they even told the imperi^H^H^H^H^H^Hallies that
they were staying there, and that is was not a valid target.
Either the chain of command screwed up by deliberately not
telling those in the field not to shoot, or they they
deliberately told those in the field to shoot to thus
intimidate journalists in the future.

It was known by those of us who were watching the news. Was it known by
that tank crew which was busy fighting? Apparently not.

Iraq had moved its government to that hotel to use the media as human
shields. They, in fact, asked some of the media to move to another
bigger hotel so that Iraq could protect even more people.
