For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to
persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Shouldn't you be on your knees asking your deity why it just wiped out over
a hundred thousand people on a whim? Is God on it's period?

Actually, we just suggest that the assertion "There is a God" is
unknowable. I personally have never suggested that the author of "Moby
*****", or the speed of light in a vacuum, or the first ten digits of
pi, is unknowable.
See:
Theist: The TRUTH(tm) is that there is a God, and he speaks Aramaic.
Atheist: Well, you might be correct, but it's very unlikely. Your
assertion is unknowable, unless you have had certain very personal
experiences, but which are inadequate for convincing anyone else.
Theist: Ah ha! You say people cannot know the TRUTH(tm)!
Atheist: Right, by *your definition. That doesn't mean we can't know
true things, just...
Theist: I *know the TRUTH(tm), because I really, really, want it to be
so.
And so on.
Knowledge is not absolute proof that "X" is so, only that there is good
reason to believe that "X" is very likely.

It's the old Roman Catholic compound identity trick. They did it to Mary
Magdalene (M.M. and some reformed prostitute). In this case rcman is
deliberately confusing agnosticism with Atheism.
Truth is the totality of material facts, known or unknown, knowledge is
awareness of at least some of them. Belief is either making sustainable
assumptions pending acquisition of knowledge (so it comprises an
admission of total ignorance), or it is dishonesty.
You can prove or disprove things without knowing everything. We know
that grass is green, not because so far all percieved grass has been
green but because it is known why grass is green i.e. it contains
chlorophyll, which is essential for photosynthesis.
We know that the God described in the Bible cannot possibly exist
because the Bible explicitly attributes a purpose to God's creation, and
a specific structure to the universe to fulfil that purpose, Astronomy
demontrates that the Bible's model of the universe is false. Which is
probably why the church banned it until the late 19th century.

But on his planet "truth" is "what his religion says".
He thinks atheism is a reliogion.
So his deluded imagination thinks atheism does what religion does.
Including the "truth" that he has had to invent for atheism.
