Iraq was invaded because of:
a) WMD program (some were found, more importantly Saddam had personnel
and plans ready when sanctions regime ceased). Note that while the
amount of WMD:s were debatable *in hindsight*, everyone, including
Clinton administration in '98 believed in a wide program.
b) Constant violations of UN Resolution 1441
c) Iraq war resolution of 2002 was approved by Senate vote 77-23
d) Saddam's human rights violations.
e) Saddam's support to various terrorists.
