I don't think there is any way to do that. On the other hand,
I don't think there is any way anybody can prove that no Americans
would be killed in the U.S. if we hadn't gone in to Iraq. Either
you believe that launching a global war against terrorism and
putting terrorist organizations off their balance and off their
timetables reduces the threat, or you don't.

Most of the chicken hawks got it right, including Bill Clinton
and Sandy Berger. Just because they might be draft evaders
doesn't mean they can't figure out what the threat is.

Nothing directly. 9/11 changed our attitude towards states that sponsor
terrorism. One way or another, we're going after them. Maybe we'll
attack them militarily, and maybe diplomatically, and maybe
economically, but we're going after them.
Iraq was handy after Afghanistan. Saddam represented some serious
unfinished business for the US, and he most certainly did have
aspirations of WMD's, whether we found an arsenal or not. He was weak,
and he was sitting on a sea of oil. The UN wouldn't stand up for him, he
had no allies amongst the arab states, and he was in our way.
Now we're sitting on a strategic outpost right smack in the middle of
the states who sponsor the worst kinds of international terrorism.
Naturally the terrorists aren't very happy about it.

If the allies of the u.s.a. commit or sponsor terrorist acts it's ok?
No, and we're working with them on that. We've sponsored a big
investigation into the Saudi connections (probably even some of their
high officials, in the "secret 28 pages"). The Pakistanis have been
attacking Al Queda strongholds along the border for a couple of years now.
Both the Saudi government and the Pakistani government have been
*attacking* terrorist cells lately.

It just amazes me that we are so stupid, so greedy, so egotistical, so
whatever, that we couldn't pickup a paper, read a book, talk to
people, travel, volunteer, to learn about the world... no it took,
what 19 guys, of questionable ability and intelligence, to learn about
flying - not landing, board our airlines that are tremendously busy
and supposedly secure, fly them into buildings, and now people raise
their heads and say, wow, there are other people in the world and
there might be a problem. Boy, we are sure on top of things... If
things changed after 9/11, then our government, whose primary
responsibility is to protect, and our intelligence agencies receive a
grade of "F-". Things are no different in the world, the
administration just took this opportunity to implement their agenda,
regardless.

How many more if brave military Americans don't lay their own
lives on the line for all Americans?
Remind us again just what the hell Iraq has to do with 9/11?
Nothing directly. 9/11 changed our attitude towards states that sponsor
terrorism. One way or another, we're going after them. Maybe we'll
attack them militarily, and maybe diplomatically, and maybe
economically, but we're going after them.
Iraq was handy after Afghanistan. Saddam represented some serious
unfinished business for the US, and he most certainly did have
aspirations of WMD's, whether we found an arsenal or not. He was weak,
and he was sitting on a sea of oil. The UN wouldn't stand up for him, he
had no allies amongst the arab states, and he was in our way.
Now we're sitting on a strategic outpost right smack in the middle of
the states who sponsor the worst kinds of international terrorism.
Naturally the terrorists aren't very happy about it.
Saddam may have had aspirations of WMDs in the 80's-90's, but it's looking
more and more every day like he was up to a whole lot of nothing when we
invaded. Either the UN inspections were working, or he just plain gave up.
There is also little if any good evidence that he had any ties to al Queda.
Water under the bridge.
As for having a strong position in the middle east, well, isn't that what
the Soviets thought too?
So all wars have the same outcomes? Gee, that makes history a lot simpler.
We all know how that turned out. We are not going
to prevent people being ***** at us by conquoring their countries. The
reason they hate us to begin with is because they thought we were
infringing on their territory.
We don't care if they love us.
