Object: 50% of the population has a below-average IQ
When dealing with the masses the lowest common denominator usually wins.
Remember that 50% of the populations by definition have a below- average IQ
and perhaps for this reason the world has ended up with three of the worst
examples of religion: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. All are true
"gutter" religions. Within each of these the most debase teachings of
Rabbinic Judaism, Wahhabism Islam, and Conservative Christianity enjoy the
fastest growth. It didn't have to be this way as there were dozens of
ancient religions void of hells and demons and filled with joys and quest
for philosophical learning, or sometimes physical pleasures. There was
actually a time when physical pleasures and the main focus of the individual
toward his family and one another were not considered religious sins.
Threats and torture won and we, like our ancestors have been struggling to
craw out from under these brutal hands of these superstition ever since.

Ignoring your poor definition of 'average', surely the 50% above-average IQ
would cancel out the belows?
And what the bugger has LCD got to do with 'below-average'?

No it isn't, and neither is the mode.
All are "measures of central tendency" but the mean is the only
"average" in that list. If you want to be more precise here, call it
the "arithmetic mean", and if you want to compare it to other types of
means, you might mention the geometric mean or the harmonic mean. But
mode and median are in no way, shape or form, "averages".

Sorry, Chris, but that's what my stats prof told me way back in Math
Stats. While you are (mostly) correct in that the common usage of
"average" implies the arithmetic mean, the word "average" may also refer
to the other measures. It gets even more complicated when you understand
that "mean" can refer to other types of means, like the geometric mean
or the weighted average of a statistical sample.

"...Mean, median, and mode are all types of
averages, although the mean is the most common type of average and
usually refers to the _arithmetic mean_ (There are other kinds of means
that are more difficult)."

Not even in the USA is this true. In some European countries, atheism is
the majority. All it will take is time, for those of you with the low
