Study: 6.5M South Africans May Have HIV

More than 6.5 million of South Africa's 47 million people could be
infected with HIV, according to a government report released Monday, a
sharp increase from previous estimates.

According to http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/sf.html,
last updated June 30 2005, the population of South Africa is around 44.3
million. This means that *15%* of the population can be classified as
HIV positive. To make things worse, this is a 3% increase (1.2 million
cases) since 2003.
The aforementioned page indicates 7.1% of the population is Catholic and
80% is Christian of one sort or another. Who thinks it's time for the
RCC to start encouraging condom use?
