8 Yr Old Girl Denied Communion |
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/08/19/communion.denied.ap/index.html
reveals that, "An 8-year-old girl who suffers from a rare digestive
disorder and cannot eat wheat has had her first Holy Communion
declared invalid because the wafer contained no wheat, violating Roman
Catholic doctrine."
So the very people who support this mythical Jesus character, who
himself supposedly said, "suffer little children to come unto me",
have rejected a child from a ***** farcical ceremony that has zero
meaning and zero validity.
How much more fucked-up can you get than the church?

The idea of professional malpractice/misfeasance/malfeasance insurance is pretty
well accepted by now, and I wouldn't have a problem with a claim of that sort. But iiuc,
the plaintiffs are trying to color the incident as a work-related ****accident****, which

Why is this relevant for atheists? The whole issue is between
Christians and even the "victimized" party isn't harboring any ill
feelings against the Church remotely comparable to your anger, it
seems.
Rules are rules. There are probably thousands of secular rules and
laws that I think are patently silly or unjust but just because they
do exist I won't claim that the government or the justice system is
fucked up. Your mock sympathy for the 8 year girl and her family is
rather repugnant. Are you out to defend her rights? When you in fact
regard their beliefs as mythical *****?
In case of religious rules, it's the business of the religious
community to make and change them as they deem fit. I don't think
there's anything relevant to atheists, unless, of course, you are on a
mission yourself and take this as an opportunity to insult the
religious and win brownie points in amongst your peers in alt.atheism.

So that you know, we Catholics profess that the bread and wine fully become the substance
of the Body and Blood of Christ, just as Jesus taught us. It is mandatory, and has been
for 2000 years now, that the bread be unleavened wheat bread - no substitutes allowed.
And that precludes any and all other substances, including rice, poisons, etc, from being
consecrated into the Body of Christ. They are invalid. All Catholics should know that,
and certainly all priests do know that. If this little girl can't consume wheat, then the
Precious Blood is also fully the Body and Blood of Christ, and she can sip of that.
In the protest_ant churches, it is admittedly a symbolic gesture, and as such rice and the
like, including grape juice are acceptable, apparently.

It never goes away.
Many of the men 10 - 15 years my senior still paw and kiss the women without

Well, I see you need a little help here. The *substances of bread
and wine become the *substances of the Body and Blood of Christ all
the while remaining under the visual, texture, and taste of the
substances of bread and wine.
I am well aware of the standard excuse the church uses.
A transparent attempt to make the mumbo-jumbo unfalsifiable.
It is but Earl is using what the nuns taught him rather than what the church
actually teaches about this and a few other things.
Earl ignores this in his attempt to tell us what he believes.

Who denied her Holy Communion? Only unleavened wheat bread can be
consecrated. And she could always take from the Cup. You atheists
are getting all confused.
At least one news source says that some parishes use a rice substitute and
the initial report has a fairly low management position holding that it can
only be wheat.

What an idiot you are. We consume only the consecrated bread and

Why don't you make up your mind?
I do - you don't understand.
Has the bread really turned into Jesus flesh -- if so, it's
cannibalism.
Or is the bread still just bread -- then why all the "Body-of-Christ"
mumbo-jumbo?

It's amusing to see Earl try to "explain" this to you by giveing the rote
information he learned from the nuns.
He left out a key phrase which, while not making it any more plausible, is a
key element in the RCC religion. One that Kiregard would understand.
If Earl had any real knowledge of the church he would state that phrase
here.
Instead he will challange me to do it.
I will after his challange.
The he will either ignore it or claim it was "implied"
Or maybe that's why the kid isn't allowed to eat it -- her allergic
reaction would be proof positive that the bread is still bread,
despite the hocus-pocus.
Who denied her Holy Communion? Only unleavened wheat bread can be

We don't get confused when you say that up is up and down at the same time.
We know you are wrong.
We also know you don't seem to acknowledge what the church says about such
things.
I know, I married one. Smart and beautiful Catholic women
seek mates who aren't suffering from delusions and cannibalistic
fantasies.
I gather she set aside your shortcomings.

reveals that, "An 8-year-old girl who suffers from a rare digestive
disorder and cannot eat wheat has had her first Holy Communion
declared invalid because the wafer contained no wheat, violating Roman
Catholic doctrine."
So the very people who support this mythical Jesus character, who
himself supposedly said, "suffer little children to come unto me",
have rejected a child from a ***** farcical ceremony that has zero
meaning and zero validity.
How much more fucked-up can you get than the church?
So, why would god make a child so "defective" that she can't fully
participate in such an important ceremony. Why does the church think
so little of their god that they don't believe that he can change rice
wafers into his "body" for a sick little girl that he made.
WWJD? If one of his apostles was similarly afflicted at the last
supper, would he have singled him out and excluded him from his "going
away party?" Or would he have sought to include all? Was the bread
more important, or was it the fellowship? (This is rhetorical, just
think about it.)
For an entity that we mere humans can't begin to comprehend, the
humans in the catholic church sure spend alot of time telling their
sheep what god will and won't allow. Sure unleavened wheat wafers are
traditional now, because the rcc made it traditional, therefore they
should be able to change their, not god's, tradition. After all, I
doubt that jesus passed out little disks of bread with crucifixes
pressed into them. That's the church's tradition, not god's.
In the protest_ant churches, it is admittedly a symbolic gesture, and as such rice and the
like, including grape juice are acceptable, apparently.

You know, I was raised a Catholic and went through all the
"first communion" stuff myself, yet I can't make myself lose
a single moment of sleep over this no matter how I try.
So it's an archaic, fucked up practice that makes not a lick
of sense. This is supposed to be different from any other
religious practice... HOW?
