'I knew Jesus would bring him home to us'
Family saddened but relieved that boy's body found
By Tillie Fong And Rosa Ramirez, Rocky Mountain News
May 17, 2007
Family members of a 2-year-old boy who was swept away by a flash flood
Monday had hoped that his body would be found, so that he, and not an empty
casket, would be buried.
Wednesday, their prayers were answered when Jose Matthew Jauregui Jr. was
found near a sandbar in the South Platte River, about 7 miles downstream
from where he was separated from his mother.
"I knew Jesus would bring him home to us," said Julie Guzman, Jose's great
aunt and spokeswoman for the family.
A heavy-equipment operator working on a flood-control project on the river
north of Interstate 70 in Globeville made the discovery at 11:50 a.m.
Wednesday.
"He saw something suspicious in the water and called the fire department,"
said Greg Dobbs, project manager with Lawrence Construction Co. Dobbs
declined to identify the worker.
Guzman was among a dozen family members and friends who gathered Wednesday
on a railroad bridge near Franklin Street and Race Court that overlooks the
sandbar. As relatives and friends arrived, they hugged each other, spoke
quietly and waited.
"It's a sad day and it's a happy day," Guzman said. "It's sad that we found
him dead, and it's a happy day because we found him."
When Jose's body was brought up from the river Wednesday, his mother, Elsha
Guel, was sobbing and had to be supported.
"My baby, my baby - it's my baby," she cried. She collapsed after her son's
body was placed in the coroner's vehicle. A paramedic attended to her before
placing her in an ambulance that took her to Denver Health Medical Center,
where she was treated and released.
Denver Fire Chief Larry Trujillo described the discovery of Jose's body as
"less than one in a million chance."
"It was the prayers that brought him back," Trujillo said. "This was a
great, great loss. We all have children."
Denver Fire dive teams had been searching the South Platte since Monday
night, when Jose and his mother were caught in floodwater while out for a
walk on a bike path near Rude Park.
A sudden downpour sent water rushing from Lakewood Gulch into the South
Platte River, and Guel lost control of the stroller in which the toddler was
riding.
Twenty-eight members of the Denver Fire rescue teams searched for Jose on
Monday night, Trujillo said. About eight to 10 rescuers have combed the
river each day since.
Adrian "Age" Sandoval, assistant pastor for West Side Bible Church, said the
church is arranging a vigil for the toddler.
"This is devastating for the community," he said. "We want to give them
support."
Crews of Denver firefighters continued to search Wednesday for another
youth, believed to be between the ages of 15 and 20, who also was caught in
floodwater Monday near Bible Park.
Officials don't know if there is anyone to look for; there have been no
reports of such a person going missing. If the boy is safe, search crews
would like to hear from him.
"I know that with young individuals, they might think they might get in
trouble, but please let us know," said Heather Green, spokeswoman for Denver
Fire.
Rescue crews will resume the search today along the South Platte River to
the Adams County line, near 54th Avenue.

Jonez is still embarrassed about how I proved him wrong about
a woman he claimed was a Christian who murdered her child. It's
possible the woman was/is a Christian, but the article he C&P made no
mention of any religious belief.
The best part, IMO, was when he posted a link to a blog that
he thought would prove his claim. The blog had screen caps from a
woman's MySpace page. The "owner" of the page had the same name, but
she lives in a different state.
The woman in question, the alleged murderer, lives in
Minnesota while the screen caps were for a woman who lives in Alabama.
And it's not like she doesn't know what state she lives in, or clicked
Minnesota by accident. Minnesota and Alabama aren't next to each
other on the list.
When I and another poster pointed this out, Jonez stopped
posting to the thread. He's been in "Attack Kent Mode" ever since.
Since Teddie
Kaldis claims to be Christiian, Jonez didn't blame Teddie's "god",

Even Jonez realizes that if Ted's god appears anywhere in the

'I knew Jesus would bring him home to us'
Family saddened but relieved that boy's body found
By Tillie Fong And Rosa Ramirez, Rocky Mountain News
May 17, 2007
Family members of a 2-year-old boy who was swept away by a flash
flood Monday had hoped that his body would be found, so that he,
and not an empty casket, would be buried.
Wednesday, their prayers were answered when Jose Matthew Jauregui
Jr. was found near a sandbar in the South Platte River, about 7
miles downstream from where he was separated from his mother.
"I knew Jesus would bring him home to us," said Julie Guzman,
Jose's great aunt and spokeswoman for the family.
A heavy-equipment operator working on a flood-control project on
the river north of Interstate 70 in Globeville made the discovery
at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday.
"He saw something suspicious in the water and called the fire
department," said Greg Dobbs, project manager with Lawrence
Construction Co. Dobbs declined to identify the worker.
Guzman was among a dozen family members and friends who gathered
Wednesday on a railroad bridge near Franklin Street and Race Court
that overlooks the sandbar. As relatives and friends arrived, they
hugged each other, spoke quietly and waited.
"It's a sad day and it's a happy day," Guzman said. "It's sad that
we found him dead, and it's a happy day because we found him."
When Jose's body was brought up from the river Wednesday, his
mother, Elsha Guel, was sobbing and had to be supported.
"My baby, my baby - it's my baby," she cried. She collapsed after
her son's body was placed in the coroner's vehicle. A paramedic
attended to her before placing her in an ambulance that took her to
Denver Health Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
Denver Fire Chief Larry Trujillo described the discovery of Jose's
body as "less than one in a million chance."
"It was the prayers that brought him back," Trujillo said. "This
was a great, great loss. We all have children."
Denver Fire dive teams had been searching the South Platte since
Monday night, when Jose and his mother were caught in floodwater
while out for a walk on a bike path near Rude Park.
A sudden downpour sent water rushing from Lakewood Gulch into the
South Platte River, and Guel lost control of the stroller in which
the toddler was riding.
Twenty-eight members of the Denver Fire rescue teams searched for
Jose on Monday night, Trujillo said. About eight to 10 rescuers
have combed the river each day since.
Adrian "Age" Sandoval, assistant pastor for West Side Bible Church,
said the church is arranging a vigil for the toddler.
"This is devastating for the community," he said. "We want to give
them support."
Crews of Denver firefighters continued to search Wednesday for
another youth, believed to be between the ages of 15 and 20, who
also was caught in floodwater Monday near Bible Park.
Officials don't know if there is anyone to look for; there have
been no reports of such a person going missing. If the boy is safe,
search crews would like to hear from him.
"I know that with young individuals, they might think they might
get in trouble, but please let us know," said Heather Green,
spokeswoman for Denver Fire.
Rescue crews will resume the search today along the South Platte
River to the Adams County line, near 54th Avenue.

Most of the names given to God are not permitted to be

I think Ted's been conned by a demon posing as Jesus. I've
looked for a passage that can in any reasonable way be taken that we
are to racist (reference Ted's comment about pregnant Hispanics when
Lindsay when she was pregnant -- "pregnant brown cows" -- and his
proud use of racial slurs regarding Asians and dark skinned Africans)
Kent seems to be honest and on the level while Teddie seems to

I don't lie. I may get things wrong, but since the intent is
not to deceive, it can't be a lie.

I credit my good nature to being a Christian. I wasn't always
the nice, friendly person you know.
I've never killed anyone, but when I lived in Chicago (very
early 90's), I did get into a few arguments. Two ended up getting
physical.

Some atheist can accept this. John Hattan was a great
example. He figured, if you want to believe, it did him no harm so he
saw no need to try and belittle someone for believing in a deity.
My experience is that John was and is the exception to the
rule.

You do love to lie, huh?
Ever thought of seeking professional help for this problem? I
think it would do you a great deal of good.
Ultraman AKA Jonez apparently has a hard-on about you Kent for him to
post such inappropriate and disengenuous crap.
So god slaughtering babies is inappropriate and "disingenuous"?
You've yet to offer proof that He did so in the article you
posted.
Fact: Tragedies happen,
young people die. Blaming your version of G-d
Oh lookie, the Ted Kaldistortion in action. Using symbols
for vowels in naughty words.
What is this obsession you have with Ted? Just let him know
you have a crush on him and be done with it. If he has a crush on
you, it's possible that you'll make a nice couple.
( which BTW Jonez has
distorted for his own use) for this particular tragedy in order to
attack you Kent is pretty frigging low, even for Jonez. Since Teddie
Kaldis claims to be Christiian, Jonez didn't blame Teddie's "god",
Kent clearly stated that "his" god isn't the same one Kaldis kowtows to.
If Ted's claim that his god is found within the Bible, Ted
worships Baal.
even though in theory Tedide's god is the same as yours. That is, in
terms of what Teddie CLAIMS to be and your professed belief in the
Bible and Jesus Christ. In all honesty Tedide's " jesus" and " god"
seem to plastic imitations of honest religion.
So you agree that the Kaldis god and the Wills god are different, eh?
EVERYONE does. Ted worships a demon pretending to be the
Jehovah.
I have a hard time
believingTeddie actually follows a sincere Christian faith., although
his mental illness so evidnet online may be preventing him from
sincers spirituality.
Jonez, OTOH, is just a twit.
So why do you feel compelled to defend Kent's perverted grotesque
superstitions ?
Why do you have such hate for a deity you believe doesn't
exist? Why don't you have any hate for Vishnu? Why doesn't Allah
incurred the wrath of Jonez? Cghene gets a pass. Why? You show not
ill will towards Bolon tza cab. Care to explain?
I could go on for hours, but I'm sure I've made my point. For
someone who claims to be an atheist, you expend a great deal of energy
hating an entity you believe doesn't exist.

Kent may or may not believe in that way, I dunno. Some Christians
seem to have a schizophrenic dichotomy about their god being
supposedly all good, merciful and so forth, yet this same god has an
eternal torment in hell which is hardly merciful nor good. The god of
the Old Testament is a pretty sadistic, bloodthirsty, butcherous being
while this supposedly SAME god in the New Tetsament is all loving,
compasionate and so forth. In some ways this contradiction is akin to
a victim of spousal abuse rationalizing the abuser's actions. I chose
long ago not to be Christian becuase of what I saw in the Bible and
what I saw written and said by Christians. Kent's version of deity may
not be the "don't blame god" for wrongs or tragedies approach. Only he
can say for sure. There is an OT passage where this god says he
creates evil and the characteristics of this same god in the OT shows
a pretty malevolent, sinful character. But Kent's god is the New
Testament one.
For a log time since I became a Wiccan/Pagan, particularly in the
eighties, I loathed Christianity and by extension Christians for what
SOME Christians were spouting off and doing in the name of their
savior. I didn't shed a tear nor did I feel much sympathy when Jerry
Falwell died BECAUSE of the many instances of hateful things that
creep said over the years. My hate for them has abated somewhat due to
the REAL Christians who show nothing but compassion, love and even
nonjudgmenetal understanding ( when they repeat what they have been
told and are corrected, they acknowledge their errors), but I still
have animosity for Christianity because of the self-righteous type
that Fallwell exemplified. There are still books and other material
distorting my religion and full of lies BY Christians online and in
bookstores. And Dominion Now theology hardly is for civil liberties.
Whenever a Christian claims they "love" me and claim they are "
concerned for my soul", I have to resist the urge to punch their
lights out. Their "love" and "concern" are disengenuous, a cult tactic
and not real. I've seen the dark side of Christianity and the good
people that claim to be Christians won't speak up and stop the
malevolence done in their savior's name.. When Tempest Smith killed
herself because of Christians in her school bullying her, where were
the " true" Christians then? The few Christians who show love and
compassion seem to be silent when a gay person, or a non-Christian, or
anyone who has the courage to stand alone against the " righteous".
As it stands, even when I know there are good people who are
Christian, I don't trust a damn one of them. Until I see good
Christians stand up to defend people like me, I will always have the
view that if I was dumb enough to trust them they could betray me.

Kent may or may not believe in that way, I dunno.
Jehovah is ultimately good. However, there are MANY examples
where he would do things we would view as bad. Turning Lot's wife
into a pillar of salt for simply looking back at Sodom is one example.
The 10 plagues that befell Egypt is another. Why would he
need to kill all the first born males?
What I've pointed out above will prove a difficult item for
some. My acknowledging that God has done some nasty things doesn't
fit with what they expect and few know how to address such.

I don't "blame" God, but I do acknowledge that He allows bad

Some of us do what we can, but many are afraid that people

Odds are strong they will do just that. So what? Should we
sit back and allow people like Bob Lar$on, Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart,

us?

Tempest never should have died. If these abusers were
Christian (and it's very possible they at least claimed to be), they
clearly didn't understand what it means to be a Christian.
I can't find any example of Jesus tormenting a person for not
accepting what He said. In fact, He would leave them alone. If
someone isn't interested, harping on them about it will only waste
your time and theirs.

My position is this:
If someone wants to hear about Jesus, I'll talk with them. If
they don't, I'm not going to waste time beating them over the head
(metaphorically speaking) with the Bible. It will prove a waste of
time.
