Object: #A Campaign Over the Hillary
"Pressured by former Democratic vice-presidential candidate John
Edwards's bold foray into her own back yard, when he challenged her
silence over the war during a speech in New York City, the shrine of
liberalism, and by Barack Obama's formation of an exploratory
committee, Hillary Clinton has rushed to signal her intention to run
for president.
She has told friends that she hadn't seen why she couldn't just wait
until the fall of the year before the election, as her husband Bill had
done, to announce. But she was so panicked by the Edwards and Obama
initiatives that she announced her candidacy on a Saturday. That's the
worst news day of the year and the Clintons usually reserve it for
announcements concerning their scandals."

Another Clinton presidency was the talk of the Sunday talk shows and she
was on all the morning talk shows on Monday just before Bush's State of
the Union.
She got more millage in her announcement than any candidate in recent
history - and she announced on the Internet, which is also a first.
Personally, I'm not a Clinton fan. She's been consistently wrong about
the war and she was too easily misled.
On the other hand, Sen. Webb said in his rebuttal to Bush's State of the
Union that he knew Bush was reckless in taking us to war. Why didn't
Clinton, Kerry and Edwards know this?
Hell, Webb could run for president in 2008 and he'd win.

Because the President is supposed to be an honourable man you are
meant to trust. Especially at that level.
Even though the rest of the world knew he was lying, they had to take
his word because he is not supposed to lie.
The true test is how long it took them to realise they had been lied
to.

Hell, Webb could run for president in 2008 and he'd win.

Agreed. When the vote to authorize force was taken we didn't know
anything for sure about WMD etc. After the vote, UN inspectors were put
back in Iraq and they said our intelligence was worthless. We knew Bush
was lying.
Supporting the war after the UN inspection process exposed Bush's lies
is and remains unacceptable. It was easy for Clinton to support the war
(the media was pushing war around the clock). It would have been much
better if she did the right thing and opposed the war. Put simply, she
was easily rolled.
Being someone who opposed this war from day one it doesn't help Clinton
to simply blame Bush. She voted for to use force (which was ok) but
then she spent four years supporting and defending that mistake.
How much courage does that take?
