A Judgment Day IS On The Horizon |
Judgment Day
Evangelist: Let me put it this way-are you ready for the
Judgment Day?
Store clerk: When will it be?
Evangelist: Could be today, could be tomorrow!
Store clerk: Well, when you know exactly, be sure to let me
know. My wife will probably want to go on both days.
==
(Matthew 7:20-23 NASB)
20 "So then, you will 1know them aby their fruits.
21 "aNot everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will
enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of
My Father who is in heaven will enter.
22 "aMany will say to Me on bthat day, 'Lord, Lord,
did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast
out demons, and in Your name perform many 1miracles?'
23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you;
aDEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'
7:19, 20 The destiny of the false prophets is to be thrown into the
fire. The doom of false teachers and prophets is "swift destruction" (2
Pet. 2:1). They can be known by their fruits. V. I Never Knew You
(7:21-23)
7:21 The Lord Jesus next warns against people who falsely profess to
acknowledge Him as Savior, but have never been converted. Not everyone
who calls Jesus, "Lord, Lord," shall enter the kingdom of heaven. Only
those who do the will of God enter the kingdom. The first step in doing
the will of God is to believe on the Lord Jesus (John 6:29).
7:22, 23 On judgment day when unbelievers stand before Christ (Rev.
20:11-15), many will remind Him that they prophesied, or cast out
demons, or performed many wonders-all in His name. But their
protestation will be in vain. Jesus will declare to them that He never
knew them or acknowledged them as His own. From these verses we learn
that not all miracles are of divine origin and that not all miracle
workers are divinely accredited. A miracle simply means that a
supernatural power is at work. That power may be divine or satanic.
Satan may empower his workers to cast out demons temporarily, in order
to create the illusion that the miracle is divine. He is not dividing
his kingdom against itself in such a case, but is plotting an even worse
invasion of demons in the future.
==
We are to recognize them by their fruits. That is what we are to watch
for in their lives. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall
enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my
Father which is in heaven [Matt. 7:21]. You can run around and mouth
about living by the Golden Rule, but the point is: Are you doing the
will of the Father in heaven? If you are doing His will, you'll come to
Christ, recognizing that you need a Savior. Many will say to me in that
day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name
have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And
then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that
work iniquity [Matt. 7:22-23]. Obviously these verses do not refer to
believers today. Every believer, living or dead, will be caught up to
meet the Lord in the air. None will hear the Lord say, "depart from me."
This passage has particular reference to the Great Tribulation period
and the Millennium. This is the place to suggest that the Sermon on the
Mount will have a particular meaning for the remnant during the Great
Tribulation.
==
7:21 Not everyone who says . but he who does. The barrenness of this
sort of faith demonstrates its real character (cf. v. 20)-the faith that
says but does not do is really unbelief. Jesus was not suggesting that
works are meritorious for salvation, but that true faith will not fail
to produce the fruit of good works. This is precisely the point of James
1:22-25; 2:26.
7:22 have we not prophesied . cast out demons . and done many wonders.
Note that far from being totally devoid of works of any kind, these
people were claiming to have done some remarkable signs and wonders. In
fact, their whole confidence was in these works-further proof that these
works, spectacular as they might have appeared, could not have been
authentic. No one so bereft of genuine faith could possibly produce true
good works. A bad tree cannot bear good fruit (v. 18).
7:23 lawlessness. All sin is lawlessness (1 John 3:4), i.e., rebellion
against the law of God (cf. 13:41).
==
"It is hard for humans to conceive of how literal fire can bring torture
to nonphysical beings, but the reality of unbearable pain inflicted on
Satan is unquestionable. However the Bible may speak of that future
punishment-whether as the lake of fire, outer darkness (Matt. 8:12;
22:13; 25:30), wailing and gnashing of teeth (Matt. 8:12; 13:42, 50;
22:13; 24:51; 25:30; Luke 13:28), a never-dying worm and unquenchable
fire (Mark 9:48), or fire and brimstone-it presents a picture of mental
agony and corporeal suffering combined in proportion to the guilt of
those who have sinned (Luke 12:47-48) . . ."704

THE TWO FOUNDATIONS
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I
will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and
beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock
[Matt. 7:24-25].
If you have come to Christ, He is the foundation-"For other foundation
can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ" (1 Cor. 3:11).
When you are resting on Christ, you can build on that foundation. By
yielding to the Holy Spirit, you can build a life which the Bible likens
to gold, silver, and precious stones.
But there is another kind of building- And every one that heareth these
sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish
man, which built his house upon the sand:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and
beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it [Matt.
7:26-27].
What is that sand? It is human goodness and human effort. It is the old
weakness of the flesh. My friend, I say to you that you need something
better than the flesh has to offer. Matthew concludes this section by
saying- And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the
people were astonished at his doctrine:
For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes
[Matt. 7:28-29].
Our Lord Jesus was that kind of teacher-He taught with authority; He
wasn't just repeating something He had read. And you and I need to
recognize that we have nothing worthwhile to say unless it is with the
authority of the Word of God and unless we believe it is the Word of
God. I don't want to hear a man who gives me a string of theories,
theories which he himself has never tried and actually knows nothing
about. Today we have a gospel to give, a message of salvation. We know
it works because it has worked in our case. And we have seen it work in
the lives of others who have come to Christ.
My friend, the Sermon on the Mount is a glorious passage of Scripture.
Don't bypass it. If you read it aright, it will bring you to the person
of Jesus Christ. It will show you how you fail to measure up to its
precepts. It will show you that you are weak and guilty. It will make
you cry for mercy and will bring you to the person of Christ for
salvation. When you accept Christ as Savior, He will give you the Holy
Spirit who will enable you to live on this high standard.

(Isaiah 23:1-23 NASB)
Judgment on the Earth
1 Behold, the LORD alays the earth waste, devastates
it, distorts its surface and scatters its inhabitants.
2 And the people will be like the priest, the servant like
his master, the maid like her mistress, the buyer like the
seller, the lender like the borrower, the acreditor like the
debtor.
3 The earth will be completely laid waste and
completely despoiled, for the LORD has spoken this
word.
4 The aearth mourns and withers, the world fades and
withers, the bexalted of the people of the earth fade away.
5 The earth is also apolluted 1by its inhabitants, for they
transgressed laws, violated statutes, bbroke the everlasting
covenant.
6 Therefore, a acurse devours the earth, and those who
live in it are held guilty. Therefore, the binhabitants of the
earth are burned, and few men are left.
7 The anew wine mourns,
The vine decays,
All the merry-hearted sigh.
8 The agaiety of tambourines ceases,
The noise of revelers stops,
The gaiety of the harp ceases.
9 They do not drink wine with song;
aStrong drink is bbitter to those who drink it.
10 The acity of chaos is broken down;
bEvery house is shut up so that none may enter.
11 There is an aoutcry in the streets concerning the
wine;
bAll joy 1turns to gloom.
The gaiety of the earth is banished.
12 Desolation is left in the city
And the agate is battered to ruins.
13 For athus it will be in the midst of the earth among
the peoples,
As the 1shaking of an olive tree,
As the gleanings when the grape harvest is over.
14 aThey raise their voices, they shout for joy;
They cry out from the 1west concerning the majesty of the
LORD.
15 Therefore aglorify the LORD in the 1east,
The bname of the LORD, the God of Israel,
In the 2ccoastlands of the sea.
16 From the aends of the earth we hear songs, "bGlory
to the Righteous One,"
But I say, "1cWoe to me! 1Woe to me! Alas for me!
The dtreacherous deal treacherously,
And the treacherous deal very treacherously."
17 aTerror and pit and snare
1Confront you, O inhabitant of the earth.
18 Then it will be that he who flees the 1report of
disaster will fall into the pit,
And he who 2climbs out of the pit will be caught in the snare;
For the awindows 3above are opened, and the bfoundations
of the earth shake.
19 aThe earth is broken asunder,
The earth is bsplit through,
The earth is shaken violently.
20 The earth areels to and fro like a drunkard
And it totters like a 1shack,
For its btransgression is heavy upon it,
And it will fall, cnever to rise again.
21 So it will happen in that day,
That the LORD will apunish the host of 1heaven on high,
And the bkings of the earth on earth.
22 They will be gathered together
Like aprisoners in the 1dungeon,
And will be confined in prison;
And after many days they will bbe punished.
23 Then the amoon will be abashed and the sun
ashamed,
For the bLORD of hosts will reign on cMount Zion and in
Jerusalem,
And His glory will be before His elders.
24:1-23 On Judgment Day: Tottering like a tent. Having warned several
specific nations (see 13-23), Isaiah now spoke in broader terms about
God's ultimate triumph over evil
(24-25) and exaltation of Israel (see 26-27). He began by describing a
future time of universal suffering and devastation (24:1-13), sent by
God because all humankind had transgressed his laws
(24:5). A few will escape this judgment, just as a few olives or grapes
can be gleaned after the harvest
(24:13), and they will rejoice (24:14-16; see exposition on 10:20-23),
but for most of humankind there will be only judgment
(24:16-23). The earth will shake. It will "stagger" like a "drunkard"
and "tremble" like "a tent in a storm"-clearly a description of the
Tribulation. Out of this terrible devastation, however, will come the
glorious light of Christ in his millennial kingdom
(24:23; see 60:19-20; Rev. 21:23; 22:5). Because of its description of
the Tribulation and Millennium,
24-27 is often called "Isaiah's Apocalypse." (Apocalypse is Greek for
"revelation"; the book of Revelation also describes the Tribulation and
Millennium.)

The Day of His Wrath
Revelation 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be
able to stand? The Great Day is a Judgment Day of evil angels Jude 6 And
the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own
habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto
the judgment of the great day. A battle is held on God's Great Day
Revelation 16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles,
which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to
gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
The righteous are revealed on this day Romans 2:5-11 But after thy
hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against
the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6 Who
will render to every man according to his deeds: 7 To them who by
patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and
immortality, eternal life: 8 But unto them that are contentious, and do
not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, 9
Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the
Jew first, and also of the Gentile; 10 But glory, honour, and peace, to
every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
11 For there is no respect of persons with God. Wicked have reservations
to this day
Job 21:30 That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they
shall be brought forth to the day of wrath. Riches mean nothing on that
day
Proverbs 11:4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness
delivereth from death.

And if you have trouble digesting what Jesus said to the rich young
ruler, then his description of the judgment day will stick in your
throat. It's a prophetic picture of the final day: "Many will say to me
on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your
name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' " 4 Astounding. These
people are standing before the throne of God and bragging about
themselves. The great trumpet has sounded, and they are still tooting
their own horns. Rather than sing his praises, they sing their own.
Rather than worship God, they read their résumés. When they should be
speechless, they speak. In the very aura of the King they boast of self.
What is worse-their arrogance or their blindness? You don't impress the
officials at NASA with a paper airplane. You don't boast about your
crayon sketches in the presence of Picasso. You don't claim equality
with Einstein because you can write "H2O." And you don't boast about
your goodness in the presence of the Perfect. "Then I will tell them
plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers.' " 5 Mark it
down. God does not save us because of what we've done. Only a puny god
could be bought with tithes. Only an egotistical god would be impressed
with our pain. Only a temperamental god could be satisfied by
sacrifices. Only a heartless god would sell salvation to the highest
bidders. And only a great God does for his children what they can't do
for themselves. That is the message of Paul: "For what the law was
powerless to do . God did."6 And that is the message of the first
beatitude. "Blessed are the poor in spirit .."

JUDGMENT DAY The apostle begins by pointing out that although the
believers had suffered persecution, this was not a sign that the
judgment day had already come. It will be just the opposite when that
day actually does come. Believers will be rewarded; oppressors will be
condemned (1). Further, the day of the Lord could not possibly have
arrived yet, because it would be preceded by a falling away from the
faith and the appearance of the man of lawlessness (known also as the
son of perdition, the man of sin, or the antichrist). Although the
antichrist will lead many astray, he will be destroyed by Christ at his
coming (2). The letter draws to a close with further thanksgiving and
admonitions concerning prayer, ungodly living, and disobedience. There
is also a greeting written in Paul's own handwriting.

The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah is a frequent theme throughout
Scripture, both in the Old Testament (e.g., Deut 29:23; Isa 13:19; Amos
4:11) and in the New Testament (e.g., Matt 10:15; II Pet 2:6; Jude 7),
being used in both testaments to warn that unrighteousness is fearsomely
judged by God. Sodom is used to symbolize abject decadence (Lam 4:6; Rom
9:29; Rev 11:8), and Sodom and Gomorrah epitomize God's abhorrence of
homosexuality and all sexual depravity. As Scripture puts the narrative
of these two cities to these purposes, we must be instructed in these
points. In fact, this point is made in the narrative itself, for 18:19
states plainly that God involved Abraham in this episode so that he
would learn from it and teach his descendants (including his spiritual
descendants) that it is necessary to ??do righteousness and justice? in
order to escape God's judgment. II Peter 2:6 is an inspired commentary
on the reason Scripture includes this narrative, for it states plainly
that Sodom and Gomorrah were made ??an example for those who would live
ungodly thereafter. This theme of judgment occurs many times in
Scripture, but nowhere more graciously than John 3:18, where the means
of attaining righteousness, and thereby avoiding judgment, is also
disclosed.
==
This event vividly displays God?s abhorrence and condemnation of all
sexual sin (Jer 23:14; Ezek 16:46?58), homosexuality (Jude 7), and of
blatant, rebellious sin (Isa 3:9). This is in harmony with Leviticus 18
and 20:10?21 which state God?s absolute and unambiguous position against
licentiousness, incest, homosexuality, and sexual aberrations. However,
the passage is not all condemnatory in its instruction, for it also
reminds us that God will both rescue the righteous and judge the
unrighteous (II Pet 2:6?14). Jesus Christ cited the punishment of Sodom
and Gomorrah as an example of the final judgment and a standard by which
to gauge that judgment.

19:12). Dallas: 3E Ministries.

True and False Conversions
Overview:
http://Bibleweb.Info/Bibleweb.Info-True-and-False-Conversionsf.pdf
True and False Conversions (58 min) There is an entire industry built
around proving precious items - like diamonds and gold - to be
authentic - the "real thing". And, since the Bible says our faith is
more precious than gold, our Christianity should be tested to see if
IT is real - or fake. From a Bible teacher's perspective, this task is
NOT a job for the faint-hearted. So we again enlisted evangelist Ray
Comfort, known for his signature "pull-no punches" style. Using some
important litmus tests, Pastor Comfort helps all professing Christians
who are willing... to "examine themselves to see if they are in the
faith". Presented by: Ray Comfort

Are We There Yet?
Heaven & Hell: Biblical Images of the Afterlife (1 hr) - Are Heaven
and Hell real places? - Where are they located? - What will they
be like? - And who is destined to spend eternity there?
Heaven & Hell examines the histories of both places. How did they
come to be? What events dictated their creation? What, if anything,
lies for us beyond the grave? As human beings we are drawn to these
same timeless questions. The Bibles view of the afterlife is embraced
by more people living today than any other generation in history.
Interviews with noted authors, scholars and theologians including
George H. Gallup, Jr. (George H. Gallup International Institute, and
author of Adventures in Immortality), Joni Eareckson-Tada (author of
Heaven: Your Real Home), and Dr. Larry Poland (theologian, educator
and author of 2084) will cast light on the spiritual mysteries of
Heaven and Hell. The video incorporates dramatic recreations, art of
the masters and leading edge computer animation to present visual
clues to the physical characteristics of Heaven and Hell. Heaven &
Hell will strengthen the faith of those who believe and challenge the
skepticism of those who doubt the existence of either place.
George H. Gallup Jr. provides the statistics (53 percent of Americans
believe in Hell, 70 percent in Heaven), and two religious authors and
a priest provide the spiritual interpretation in this exploration of
the basis of belief in the afterlife. The video is divided into
segments on Revelation, Hell, and Heaven, and actors read Biblical
passages underlining the narration by Ed Ragozzino and the scholarly
input. Apostle John's dramatized visions of the end of the world and
the Second Coming, images of Hell (hint: fire is involved), and an
artist's depiction of the 1,500-square-mile cube that would be the
heavenly New Jerusalem bring the content alive. Father Pompei of
Philadelphia compares his parish neighborhood to Hell, and author
Joni Eareckson Tada (Heaven: Your Real Home) movingly describes how
she came to look forward to a heavenly afterlife, and the new body
she believes will come with it, after an accident in her teens left
her paralyzed from the neck down. Author and theologian Dr. Larry
Poland (2084) rounds out the panel of experts. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Judgment Day
Evangelist: Let me put it this way-are you ready for the
Judgment Day?
What Students Learn in Liberal Colleges ...
We took cameras and tape recorders to high school and college campuses
around North America. We asked some randomly selected students what they
think about the relative value and importance of human beings as compared
to animals. Let's see how they responded:
"I don't know if humans are more important than animals. Part of the
reason I am in college is to figure out these types of things."
"Well, I think people are just as valuable as animals. I think it is a
combined thing. We are all alive. We are all living creatures. We all
deserve the same."
"By far people are way more important than animals. I mean, I consider
myself to be a little bit right-wing, conservative, and all these
save-the-animals people, well, personally they annoy me."
"I don't think people are any more important than animals. Every living
thing has a right to be heard, and we are not to say whether we are more
important than just a dog or cat."
"People are more important than animals. Mainly just because animals can't
speak for themselves."
"The value of individuals and people has to do with being able to take
care of what is around you, being able to take care of animals and plants
and your environment and each other, which humans can uniquely do."
"Human life is important. It is sacred. The Bible said we were set apart
from the animals. We have a higher position."
"When people kill animals to eat, I kind of cringe a little bit. You know,
that personally is my opinion. I thought we abolished slavery."
Obviously, these students express different opinions. The first person was
somewhat agnostic about the question and said, "I'm not sure. One reason I
am going to college is to inquire and to investigate such questions."
Others spoke assertively. One person who said people are more important
explained that he is "right-wing," though a high value judgment for
humanity is not unique to a political view. Most people said that,
fundamentally, there is no difference-we are the same as other animals
because we are all alive.
The latter comment is most intriguing. The way we exploit animals is wrong
because slavery has ended. Notice the value judgment in this statement:
"There is something inherently wrong with slavery. We are opposed to
slavery as an evil. What difference does it make, ultimately, whether we
put a horse in a harness and attach him to the buggy and beat him on the
back with a whip to transport us around, or if we hitch up people and beat
them on the back? After all, we are all the same."
The dream of the American Civil Rights Movement was persuasively stated by
Martin Luther King Jr. King protested vigorously against discrimination.
The heroic woman Rosa Parks ignited a nation when she refused to sit in
the back of the bus because of the color of her skin. But if we are all
germs, who cares who sits in the back of the bus? What difference does it
make whether one person enslaves another, human or animal? We make value
judgments about the worth and the value of human dignity on the basis of a
philosophical foundation. And if that foundation says from the outset that
human life is insignificant because we are destined to return to the slime
from which we came, why should we care?

Judgment Day
.. Is there emptiness in your life?
Do you feel empty? Is there something lacking? Do you long for something
but don't quite know what it is? Are you longing for fulfillment? Are you
unsatisfied with the daily routine of work, or school, or whatever? Maybe
when you are by yourself and you look deep inside, you just don't feel
content. Something is missing. Maybe you've discovered that indulging the
desires of your flesh and mind have not produced the peace and tranquility
that you need. When I was younger I sought many things to replace God. I
tried to identify with something, a cause, a philosophy, even a look. I
was seeking an identity. For a while those things where entertaining and
even exciting. But ultimately, the same emptiness came back. I can
remember one night I was looking for something to break the boredom. I
watched the people around me as they were pursuing the same thing I was and
suddenly I realized how futile and empty it all was. I realized that if I
got what I wanted I would still be unsatisfied. I wanted more than the same
old thing. I wanted something that wouldn't leave me feeling empty after a
little while. I wanted something real. Somehow, I knew I could only be
satisfied by encountering God and finding His purpose. In His great mercy,
God has touched me. In the midst of my sin, in spite of pursuing my fleshly
desires, He came to me and healed my heart. Emptiness is no longer my
companion. In fact, it is so unfamiliar to me that I can barely remember
what it was like. Now, I have peace, contentment, and fulfillment because
I have found salvation and fellowship with God. This fellowship is found in
Christ. "God is faithful through whom you are called into fellowship with
his son, Jesus Christ," (1 Cor. 1:9). When you find Christ and his
salvation, you discover your purpose and you find your hope fulfilled.
Good bye emptiness.
.. (Jeremiah 17:9 NASB)
9 "The ?a?heart is more ?b?deceitful than all else
And is desperately ?c?sick;
Who can understand it?
[1]
The Heart is Sick (Desperately Wicked)
There is nothing more deceitful than the heart. And desperately wicked:
the word here is anash: it means beyond cure, (incurable), it is sick. God
does not try to cure your heart. David when he prays in Psalm 51 prays,
"Create in me a clean heart." This idiom is used throughout the entire
Scripture. God gives a new heart. Heart is the source of all human frailty
(Pro 4:23). From the heart come all deeds. See also Isa 44:20; Deut 11:16.
Verse 9 is an unpopular (but nonetheless very true) estimate of the
natural heart of man. R. K. Harrison comments on what is translated
"desperately wicked" in the ?KJV? tradition and "gravely ill" by some:
Unregenerate human nature is in a desperate condition without divine
grace, described by the term gravely ill in verse 9 (?RSV? desperately
corrupt, ?NEB? desperately sick). Cf. 15:18 and 30:12, where the meaning
"incurable" occurs. Every generation needs regeneration of soul by the
Spirit and grace of God (cf. Jn. 3:5f.; Tit. 3:5).? 20
To those who may feel that this is too harsh an indictment of their heart,
we quote an extended but needed exposé by Matthew Henry:
There is that wickedness in our hearts which we ourselves are not aware of
and do not suspect to be there; nay, it is a common mistake among the
children of men to think themselves, their own hearts at least, a great
deal better than they really are. The heart, the conscience of man, in his
corrupt and fallen state, is deceitful above all things. It is subtle and
false; it is apt to supplant (so the word properly signifies); it is that
from which Jacob had his name, a supplanter. It calls evil good and good
evil, puts false colours upon things, and cries peace to those to whom
peace does not belong. When men say in their hearts (that is, suffer their
hearts to whisper to them) that there is no God, or he does not see, or he
will not require, or they shall have peace though they go on; in these,
and a thousand similar suggestions, the heart is deceitful. It cheats men
into their own ruin; and this will be the aggravation of it, that they are
self-deceivers, self-destroyers. Herein the heart is desperately wicked;
it is deadly, it is desperate. The case is bad indeed, and in a manner
deplorable and past relief, if the conscience which should rectify the
errors of the other faculties is itself a mother of falsehood and a
ringleader in the delusion. What will become of a man if that in him which
should be the candle of the Lord give a false light, if God's deputy in
the soul, that is entrusted to support his interests, betrays them? Such
is the deceitfulness of the heart that we may truly say, Who can know it?
Who can describe how bad the heart is.? 21

LIVING IN THE LAST DAYS
If society is doomed to degeneration, what should believers do as they live
in the "last days"? Paul offered advice in several of his letters:
Reference - Romans 13:11-14 Application - Keep close to the Lord.
Reference - 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 Application - Avoid those masquerading
as servants of God.
Reference - Ephesians 5:11 Application - Have nothing to do with evildoers
and their wicked deeds; instead, expose them. Believers need not allow evil
to continue unchecked, but should actively work against it.
Reference - Ephesians 5:18 Application - Redeem the time.
Reference - Colossians 4:2, 5 Application - Believers are to pray, be
watchful, be thankful, and be wise in the way they act toward unbelievers,
making the most of every opportunity to share the gospel.
Reference - 2 Thessalonians 3:6-15 Application - Church members who are
lazy and idle must be warned. Christians should not be sitting around
waiting for the Lord to return, but should continue working in the
ministry.
[2]
In verses 2-5, nineteen characteristics of mankind during the last days are
given. We shall simply list them and give synonyms that explain their
meaning:
Lovers of themselves-self-cen tered, conceited, egotistical. Lovers of
money-greedy for mon ey, avaricious. Boasters-braggarts, full of great
swelling words. Proud-arrogant, haughty, overbearing. Blasphemers-evil
speakers, profane, abusive, foulmouthed, contemptuous, insulting.
Disobedient to parents-rebellious, undutiful, uncontrolled.
Unthankful-ungrateful, lacking in appreciation. Unholy-impious, profane,
irreverent, holding nothing sacred.
3:3 Unloving-hard-hearted, unnaturally callous, unfeeling.
Unforgiving-"implacable, refusing to make peace, refusing efforts toward
reconciliation." Slanderers-spreading false and malicious reports. Without
self-control-men of uncontrolled passions, dissolute, debauched.
Brutal-savage, unprincipled. Despisers of good-haters of whatever or
whoever is good; utterly opposed to goodness in any form.
3:4 Traitors-treacherous, betrayers. Headstrong-reckless, self-willed,
rash. Haughty-making empty pretensions, conceited. Lovers of pleasure
rather than lovers of God-those who love sensual pleasures but not God.
[3]
2 Timothy 3:1
Knowing his death was imminent, I believe Paul nonetheless thought the
Rapture would happen either in his lifetime or shortly thereafter. So do I.
I believe the Rapture will happen in my lifetime.
"Well," you say, "if Paul thought the Rapture would happen in his lifetime,
and it didn't-and if men of God throughout the ages have felt as though
they were living in the last days and the Rapture would happen in their
lifetimes, and it didn't-doesn't it seem foolish to think the Rapture will
happen in your lifetime?"
Not at all. Throughout the history of the church, the greatest men and
women of the faith have all lived their lives believing that the Lord's
coming was nigh. And even though the Lord didn't come when they thought He
would, looking for His return impacted their lives in such a way that they
left their mark on history and will be rewarded greatly in eternity (2
Timothy 4:8). Luther, Calvin, Spurgeon, Finney, Moody, Torrey all felt the
Lord's coming was close at hand. Put me in their company any day!
I choose to live my life looking for the Lord's coming. And if I am wrong,
even if He doesn't come back for another five hundred years, I would rather
go through the days I have left looking for the sudden appearing of Jesus
Christ because I know the effect it has upon the life of any man or woman
who believes He could come today: One's heart does not get troubled as
easily. One is not prone to sin so readily. If you want to live a zealous,
exciting, fulfilling, pure Christian life, live it looking for the Lord's
coming (1 John 3:3).
[4]
2 Timothy 3:2 (a)
For men shall be lovers of their own selves.
Of the students in the ten leading industrialized nations, American
high-school students scored either ninth or tenth in every academic
category. But in the category of self-esteem, they came in first. In other
words, our culture is very good at teaching our kids to say, "I'm okay. I'm
somebody. I'm proud."
2 Timothy 3:2 (b)
..covetous, boasters.
The Greek word translated "boasters" is alazon, which speaks of a claim
made by a quack promising something but unable to deliver that which was
promised.
2 Timothy 3:2 (c)
..proud, blasphemers.
The idea of blasphemy literally refers to those who use the Lord's name in
vain. People say "God" constantly-but seldom with reverence. Even by people
interviewed on news programs, the Lord's name is used in vain constantly.
2 Timothy 3:2 (d), 3 (a)
..disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection.
I believe nothing identifies us more clearly as those who have fallen into
unnatural affection than the sad statistics relating to abortion. We're
horrified when we read that the Canaanites placed their babies on the
incandescent arms of idols. How can this be? we wonder. And yet we burn our
babies with saline solutions in the wombs of mothers-a practice even more
horrific, a practice that goes against every natural instinct to protect
one's offspring.
2 Timothy 3:3 (b)
..trucebreakers.
The idea here is of people ignoring covenants or contracts.
2 Timothy 3:3 (c)
..false accusers, incontinent, fierce.
After being confronted by a student upset with an assignment, the teacher
of an anger management class lost his temper and hit the student in the
face. Now, if even teachers of anger management are hitting people, without
the Lord, what hope is there for the rest of our angry world?
2 Timothy 3:3 (d), 4
..despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of
pleasures more than lovers of God.
People love pleasure. But it's a love that leads only to the "Been there,
done that, now what?" mentality, as they find they have to continually do
something bigger, better, farther, faster, and higher in order to get the
same thrill they once did.
2 Timothy 3:5
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn
away.
We're to turn away from those who are without natural affection, from those
who despise things that are good, from those who love pleasure more than
God, from those who talk about NewAge spirituality but who know nothing of
the power of the Holy Spirit and the Resurrected Jesus.
[5]
IS IT BAD ENOUGH YET?
Our concerns about the "last days" tend to be very personal. They usually
arise, not because we are actually suffering, but because we dread
suffering. Concerns focus not so much on the destructiveness of evil around
us, but whether or not evil will affect our way of living. Such narrow
concerns reveal our blindness to evil. Christians must not withdraw from
the world entirely or use the wrong methods to defend themselves against
it. Believers who attempt to insulate themselves from the moral degradation
of the last days must not insulate themselves from God. Whenever material
prosperity or pleasure are used in place of God's protection, we fool
ourselves. But God loves us too much to leave us in our delusion. If it
takes the loss of everything to get our attention, God has been known to
allow that to happen. Does your life exhibit an awareness of the desperate
condition of the world? Are you using God's methods for dealing with
terrible times?
[6]
CHECK THE LIST
In many parts of the world today, it's not too tough to be a follower of
Christ-Christians aren't jailed for reading the Bible or executed for
preaching Christ. But Paul's descriptive list of behavior in the last days
describes our society-even, unfortunately, the behavior of some Christians.
Every one of these can be found in churches today. Check your life against
Paul's list. Don't give in to society's pressures. Don't settle for comfort
without commitment. Stand up against evil by living as God would have his
people live.
[7]
CHOOSING TO LOVE
Why is it so tempting to be a lover of pleasure rather than a lover of God?
.. Pleasure is something we can control; God cannot be controlled. Most
pleasures can be obtained easily; love for God requires effort and
sometimes sacrifice.
.. Pleasure benefits us now; the benefits of loving God are often in the
future.
.. Pleasure has a narcotic effect; it takes our minds off ourselves and
our problems. Love for God reminds us of our needs and our
responsibilities.
.. Pleasure cooperates with pride. It makes us feel good when we look
good in the eyes of others. To love God we must lay aside our pride and our
accomplishments.
[8]
PLAYING SOLDIER
Imitation Christianity has dangerous consequences. Putting on an appearance
of faith often leads people to believe a person is a true believer. In an
actual incident during the Korean War, a lieutenant inspecting a new
platoon over which he was about to take command reported that several
soldiers carried rifles that had rusted shut. Yet they were scheduled to go
into battle the next day! They looked like soldiers; they carried weapons.
But they were unprepared and unable to fight.
Some churchgoers rely on superficial appearances. Many people today carry
Bibles, attend church, mouth the right words, yet evidence no spiritual
power in their lives. They have no direct, personal, intimate connection
with God.
[9]
"Self-love is the basic shortcoming mentioned in the list of vices in
3:2-5. This vice leads to action in vv. 6-9 that is deceitful, determined
to dominate, stubborn, and rejected by God." 64

.. The Sheep and the Goats The Judgment
The Piglet, the Sheep, and the Goat A YOUNG PIG was shut up in a
fold-yard with a Goat and a Sheep. On one occasion when the shepherd laid
hold of him, he grunted and squeaked and resisted violently. The Sheep
and the Goat complained of his distressing cries, saying, "He often
handles us, and we do not cry out." To this the Pig replied, "Your
handling and mine are very different things. He catches you only for your
wool, or your milk, but he lays hold on me for my very life."

(Matthew 25:31-46 NLT) The Final Judgment
31 "But when the Son of Man?*?
comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon
his glorious throne. 32 All the nations?*? will be gathered in his
presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the
sheep from the goats. 33 He will place the sheep at his right hand and
the goats at his left. 34 "Then the King will say to those on his right,
'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for
you from the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me.
I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited
me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick,
and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.' 37 "Then
these righteous ones will reply, 'Lord, when did we ever see you hungry
and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a
stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39
When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?' 40 "And the
King will say, 'I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least
of these my brothers and sisters,?*? you were doing it to me!' 41 "Then
the King will turn to those on the left and say, 'Away with you, you
cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his
demons.?*? 42 For I was hungry, and you didn't feed me. I was thirsty,
and you didn't give me a drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you didn't
invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn't give me clothing. I
was sick and in prison, and you didn't visit me.' 44 "Then they will
reply, 'Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or
naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?' 45 "And he will answer, 'I
tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my
brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.' 46 "And they will go
away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal
life."

-----------------------------------------------------------------
In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus spoke of this event, as well. When the
Tribulation is over, the Lord will gather the survivors of all the
nations of the world and separate them into two groups: the sheep and the
goats. The nations classified as sheep will be ushered into the
millennial period-a thousand years of peace and prosperity. The goats
will be sent out into outer darkness. Who are the sheep and goats? The
defining issue is how people treat Israel during the Tribulation because
when antichrist comes, he'll persuade the nations to hate the Jews. The
nations who buy into his hatred will be doomed. But the nations who
befriend Israel will be brought into the Millennium.
Courson, J. (2006). Jon Courson's application commentary : Volume two :
Psalms-Malachi (462). Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Jesus refers to the judgment of nations that will take place at the end
of the Tribulation. According to Zechariah 14:4, when Jesus comes back to
earth, the Mount of Olives will split in half the moment His feet touch
down upon it. I found it interesting that contractors were denied a
permit to build a hotel on the Mount of Olives because seismological
studies indicated a major fault running through it. When Jesus comes,
that fault will split the mountain in half, a great valley will open
up, and a new stream will begin to flow from the Dead Sea to the
Mediterranean. Joel refers to this valley as the valley of decision
(Joel 3:14) because those who survive the Tribulation will be brought
there to stand before the Lord at the judgment of the nations. The
sheep will be allowed to enter into the millennium. The goats will be
sent away to destruction. Who are the sheep? "The ones who clothed Me;
fed Me; and cared about Me," answers Jesus. "When did we do that,
Lord?" the sheep ask. "When you did it to the least of My brethren-the
Jews," Jesus answers. You see, midway through the Tribulation,
Antichrist's determination to destroy the Jews will come to light. All
over the world, anti-Semitism will run rampant. At that time, however,
many will refuse to take the mark of the beast and will help the Jews,
even as some did in Nazi Germany. They will visit those in prison. They
will hide those in need of protection. They will reach out to those who
are hurting. They will go on record, saying, "We will not take the mark
of the beast. We will stand with these persecuted people." Jesus said
in so doing, they will demonstrate outwardly their faith in Him.
Courson, J. (2003). Jon Courson's Application Commentary (189).
Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Years ago, I sat on a hill outside Galilee and watched a single shepherd
boy lead a flock of sheep. It was a beautiful sight. Goats, on the other
hand, are impossible to lead. They would rather butt heads and eat trash
than follow anyone. Goats do what they want.
The point is the sorting out of righteous and wicked individuals that
will happen then. The angels will assist Jesus in this process. The
wicked will go to eternal destruction (cf. v. 42), but the righteous will
continue on in Messiah's kingdom that will then move from the present
earth to the new earth.
"The fear motive is often condemnbed by modern Christians, but the Book
of Matthew shows Jesus was not opposed to using it properly."571

.. Why Jesus Came
The transgression of our first parents was a voluntary elevation of the
will of man over the will of God. It was a deliberate trespass of a
divinely marked boundary, a decision to exchange the word of the living
God for the lie of His depraved enemy. Each human being born since Adam
has inherited this tendency to go his own way. It is called the sin
nature.
Man's self-will is characterized by an attitude of active rebellion or
passive indifference. Because of sin, he is by nature degenerate and
corrupt. With his understanding darkened and conscience defiled, his
thoughts and affections are worldly, sensual, and "full of evil."
In this condition, man is destitute of God's love, undeserving of His
forgiveness, filled with hostility to all that is godly, possessed of a
nature that is constantly on the downgrade, and in bondage to a dominion
from which he cannot free himself.?49?
With man in such a state, how could he ever be reunited with his Creator?
How could he be restored to fellowship and fulfill his intended destiny?
Man needed to be redeemed. But who could be his redeemer?
God had a wonderful plan. Not an afterthought of the Fall, it was a
glorious preplanned work that He conceived before the creation of man.?50?
The plan involved God's unconditional love and perfect justice.
Imagine getting a traffic ticket for speeding. When you show up in court,
your own father is the judge. Would it be fair for him to fine everyone
else who has a ticket, but excuse you because you are his child? Of course
not.
Suppose, then, he fines you one hundred dollars. Since you do not have the
money, you must spend thirty days in jail. But because he loves you, your
father steps down from the judge's bench and pays the fine for you.
Justice is satisfied; you go free. The only condition is that you accept
your father's payment.
Similarly, man could not redeem himself. Only one who was without sin
could satisfy the justice of God. The substitute had to be a man to take
the place of man. He had to be sinless to die for the sinner. Since
humanity could not provide such a redeemer, that savior had to come from
God.
To this purpose, God in the person of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ,
conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, offered Himself as the
required substitute. Coming to this world and taking man's place, He
accepted the full penalty for man's sin.?51? Because He was man, He could
die, and because He was God, He could die for the sins of the whole world.

Maybe you just haven't got there yet.
Typically christian. Looking for pain and suffering to promote your
myth.
Nope!
It is called the sin
nature.
Uh huh.
You're Jacking Off all sorts of superstitious Strawman arguments,
begging the question and haven't the wit to know to whom you're
speaking to.
I can't help but notice you place a god in 'fact' and then bleat
all the dogmatic bile it wants, requires us, to do.
Sparky.... You have to prove a god exists first. Empirical
evidence. Until you do that, all the bible crap is just crap. Until
you can do that, you're just a sock puppet believer moron.
Relent with the scripture. It has the same value as anything Elmer
Fudd would say.

dear You
. Why Jesus Came
The transgression of our first parents
who never married.
was a voluntary elevation of the
will of man over the will of God.
it was god asking us to be more self reliant.
we are given choices in life by god.
god works with us after we choose.
It was a deliberate trespass of a
divinely marked boundary,
imaginary boundries are not always divine.
some are put up as inticement to stray over.
a decision to exchange the word of the living
God
oh, oh, said by someone that never met god.
for the lie of His depraved enemy.
ok, so you think depraved people lie and are your choosen enemy?
why not love everyone as jesus asks, and let your susposed enemies
fall by the wayside?
why engage your choosen enemies? why not fight the fight inside
yourself and not make enemies?
