A reason to believe |
I really don't quite understand why you guys reject the Almighty like you
do.
If you're not sure he's there, just try believing, and then maybe you will
know.
That is precisely how things come into existence, by believing, you know.
For those of you that are married, didn't you get your spouse to marry, and
then to succeed, by believing in him or her?
It sure pays to believe in God.
I just talked to one of his manifestations, and she told me exactly where
the best possible living location was, and at the lowest price.
You sure are going to have a tough go of money if you don't believe, anyway.

You first. Try believing in Santa, and tell me if it make him real.

I really don't quite understand why you guys reject the Almighty like you
do.
If you're not sure he's there, just try believing, and then maybe you will
know.
That is precisely how things come into existence, by believing, you know.
For those of you that are married, didn't you get your spouse to marry,
and
then to succeed, by believing in him or her?
It sure pays to believe in God.
I just talked to one of his manifestations, and she told me exactly where
the best possible living location was, and at the lowest price.
You sure are going to have a tough go of money if you don't believe,
anyway.
OK I tried believing, but that didn't change the fact that I am still an
atheist. I can turn the belief on and off like a spigot. That would not be
the case if what I was believing in really existed. The minute I didn't
believe it, I would be crazy. So I believe, and I lose nothing. I
disbelieve, and I also lose nothing. If what I disbelieved, was actually
real, I would lose some portion of reality, by disbelieving it. Believing in
something that doesn't exist does not lose a portion of reality, in a case
where by doing so, I gain an understanding of other peoples beliefs. However
those who belive in something that doesn't exist, without realizing that
they can dibelieve in it at will, do lose a portion of reality.
My spouse exists whether or not I believe it, and I keep being reminded of
it. As for a tough go of money, that is not a problem for people who are
good at some trade that is in demand. No one cares what I believe as long as
I can solve his/her problem.
People who believe in God are confused. Not ignoring their beliefs can
impede progress, by letting them waste your time.

You misunderstand. Believing is not a hypnotic state, where you see
something that doesn't exist. Religious believers constantly know on some
level that their belief is false, unlike a hypnotic state, where the
suspension of reality is more complete than in religious belief. The purpose
of the belief is self-delusion for what seems to be an advantage. The
advantage of the believer is actually a type of communal fear. It involves
regression into infancy, where the religious institution protects them from
imaginary harm. Communally the religious institution is capable of
aggression against those outside it, which may bring a real economic
advantage to the members.

it is not that complicated. It is a state of domestication of people
into a community. When the community is strong over the individuals
they not dare to challenge any little bit of the dogma. In fact such
is his domestication that people stop thinking around the main tennets
of the dogma. It is a more sure bet to shut up, than show off we
understand the damned thing, cause you can be accused of heresy.
Anything that the pastro says is all right.
