Object: A simple question for the theist.
Simple question: If you were CERTAIN that god wanted you to toss a
grenade into a daycare, would you? For a TRUE believer, there can only
be one answer.
DO NOT reply with "god would never ask me to do that". It's irrelevant
what you THINK he would or wouldn't want you to do. God expected
Abraham to be willing to kill Isaac and his willingness to do so was
the right answer.
My morals are simply too high for that nonsense.

I completely disagree with that. If some god existed I might take
it's opinion into consideration, but I'd still think for myself.

Are you a true believer?

There are enough of them reading the postings here. There's no reason for
any of them not to respond. I'm sure Duke's trying to think up a terse
dismissal of the question in line with Current Vatican Doctrine right
now.

Duke will be able to give some sort of fundy logic answer I'm sure. A while
back he claims that he served his country during the Viet Nam conflict by
manufacturing weapons. When I pointed out to him that he was breaking the
"thou shalt not kill" commandment because he manufactured the instruments
which destroyed people, he came back with some woolly krister argument out
of the babble I think. They can always justify killing in the name of their
god, even though their moral guide that is the commandments contradicts such
actions. Hypocrisy in spades methinks!!

Opus-:

Simple question: If you were CERTAIN that god wanted you to toss a
grenade into a daycare, would you? For a TRUE believer, there can only
be one answer.

1. No. I'm an idiot at times, but never will I be that braindead.
2. My relationship to the deities of my faith is one of trust and
friendship, not of slave-to-master. If a friend asked me to do what you
suggested, would I keep calling her a "friend"? Your guess.

I am glad to hear that.

Unfortunately, the bible and Q'uran both require that sort of
obedience. Slave-to-master is a good way to put it.

Sadly yes.
Although for the sake of fairness I'd like to mention the moderates of both
religions here... most of them (in my experience) find that total-obedience
and 100-%-literal-truth stuff just as ludicrous as we do. :)
