A Sucker Bet for the Christians |
On page 273 of Niall Ferguson's _The War of the World: Twentieth-Century
Conflict and the Descent of the West_ (ISBN: 978-0-14-311239-6) we find this
statement about the United States response to European antisemitism, "...a Bill
to admit 20,000 Jewish children to the United States was rejected by the Senate
in 1939 and again in 1940."
I hereby affirm that I have not consulted _The Congressional Record_ for the
relevant years, so offer this wager on my own unsupported speculation:
THE BET: I say that the majority of those Senators voting to keep the kids out
of the U.S. were publicly avowed Christians.
Any takers?
$200 in cash to the first person showing me to be in error in my claim that the
majority of those Senators voting to keep the kids out were publicly avowed
Christians.
#2278 If you can't be a dirty old man, what is the point of being an old man?

I wish I could say my country's leaders would have more decency today,
but i'm not sure.

I'm hoping for it--I so love pentatonic scales--but the christians
seem to be pretty thin on the ground today.

It's the time of year that they celebrate pagan festivals, left right

If they were 20,000 embryos it would have been another matter.

Well, if those embryos had accepted Jesus H. Christ as their personal
savior, they'd be in like Flynn.
Personally, I do not see why those senators ought not be held culpable
in the probable murders of those kids.

They will probably claim that at the time they did not know about the genocide.
