What's offensive is your comment which implies we Texans are too
stupid to get the joke. The cartoon itself is just an average, typical
jab at other people.

Well, at the risk of Frank glaring really, really hard at me, "we Texans"
includes him.

Here's a hint: My comment was meant as a humorous play on the content of
the cartoon.
Of course, if you didn't understand the humor in the cartoon, you aren't
going to understand the humor in my comment. You'll pardon me if I find
that, um, humorous.
And for the humor-impaired: :-)

Not finding something funny is hardly the same as not understanding
that it's supposed to be funny. The cartoonist's inability to amuse
everyone is hardly unique, though.
You'll pardon me if I find
that, um, humorous.

Of course, I know that. My phrasing was quite deliberate. And meant to
be humorous and _not_ to be taken too seriously.
Which you did.

Maybe you need to take a short break from Usenet. Sounds like it's

It's most egotistical of you to think that one person not sharing a
joke you think is funny equates to the whole of Usenet being annoying.

Let me put it this way: When a regular does or says something at which I
take offense, I think about how I'm reacting and whether the idiots have
gotten to me. Almost always the answer is "yes."
So I take a break. Then I come back refreshed and stop taking everything
so damned seriously.
As a wise man once said, "Don't take life too serious, it ain't nohow
permanent."
