Seriously. Last year Black Rock City was behind Reno and Las Vegas
for most populous city in Nevada. It has its own public safety
department, a fire brigade, emergency medical services, everything.
And they do demographic analysis of their attendees. Average age is
around 30.

A friend of mine went last year and said it was amazing. He's 35, and
by no means a hippy. Come to think of it, nor am I, and I've been to
Glastonbury (the festival so often sterotyped as the ultimate "hippy"
event) many times. It's fascinating how folks who want to fulminate
against a thing that involves freedom of choice and expression without
harming others so often prefer prejudice to fact.
