aa - Definition: athy |
As a member of alt.atheism, I am regularly called "athiest". Now, given
my rigorous grammatical training, I know that "athiest" is the
superlative of the adjective "athy". I have not seen a definition for
the term, so I thought perhaps those to whom it has been applied would
be best suited to define it.
So this is a request for a definition of "athy".
I submit the following:
athy
adj., -ier -iest.
Exhibiting or having the traits of rationality, skepticism, and a fine
taste in music.

Once upon a time in alt.atheism, dear sweet Denis Loubet
(dloubet@io.com) made the light shine upon us with this:
I submit the following:
athy
adj., -ier -iest.
Exhibiting or having the traits of rationality, skepticism, and a

Webster too. Let's get that "People who believe there is no god"
***** out of the dictionary for good.

Perhaps we should end it with ",,," and allow the definition to be
expanded indefinitely by the invoker.

I don't think modesty plays a part in that.

I considered that one, but thought it too close to on topic around
here. Some one calls me athiest, and I want to be able to take some
absolutely wild tangent if I feel in the mood.

That changes fairly regularly. I get in kicks of various artists. My
favorite at the moment is Bright Eyes.
In general though, as long as the music is original and is interesting
or catchy, I'm a fan. Most genres of the past century (and classical as
well) or so have some artists that fit that. The only genres that I
dislike *most* of the music in are country and rap. (I'm also not a fan
of modern gospel of the variety they play in megachurches.)
*thumbs up*
