Object: aa - QOTM winners for June 2005
Here are the winners for the Quote of the Month contest for June 2005.
AQOTM: There was practically no competition here. Lots of quacking, but
no one came close to Katt's 24 votes. Congratulations on your win!
4) re: notion that Naxis weren't Christians:
So here's what we've learned about evasive and self-serving Christain
mendacity: if something walks like a duck; quacks like a duck; looks
like a duck; is descended from ducks; was brought up as a duck; never
claimed not to be a duck; quotes ducks; justifies itself in the language
of ducks; is accepted by ducks as one of their own; says it's doing the
work of ducks; is photographed shaking hands with leading ducks; is a
participant in and supporter of duck-type rituals; is never condemned by
the organisations that define duckdom; uses the slogans and insignia of
ducks; refers endlessly to the mythology and history of ducks, and has
the same racial prejudices as ducks do, then ... *it might not actually
be 'a duck'*. Reason: the Christains *moved the fucking goalposts* - and
they won't tell you *where to*...
By: Katt
Nominated: Carl Kaufmann
Seconded: Harry F. Leopold
*******
TQOTM: It was a runaway win here as well. With 23 votes, "Son of man"
got more than twice the count of his nearest competitors. What a chump!
.... er ... champ!
5) Just because something doesn't exist is no reason not to believe in
it, or to try to censure it.
By: Son of man
Nominated: Carl Kaufmann
Seconded: LisaKay

"Well, you know, Harry, I was a bit worried there, at the end of the third
round, when Sagerquist opened up that cut above my left eye, and I really
thought I was gonna be in trouble, but, you know, you train for a long time
and you just keep on punching, punching through the pain, and if you've got
it in you then there's the bell and you find that you've made it, and then
everything seems worthwhile, and I'd like to thank everyone, it really is an
honour, and I'm grateful to everyone that's made this possible, well, that's
mostly me, obviously, but you know how it is when you're at the top of your
form and it seems like everything turns to gold, and I'm just speechless,
really, it's such a lovely trophy, and if my old mum could see me now, and I
mean, the punters are what really make this game, Harry, you and I know we'd
be nothing without them, would we, and so I hope to see everyone here again
next month and we can do it all again, and meanwhile I'm gonna have a break,
a bit of time in the sauna, know what I mean, and then it's back to training
again, and I'll see you again next month Harry, alright...?"

Congratulations on your win. :-)
But you'd better take it easy for a whole now. Seeing the number of
nominations you got this month and the number of votes, pretty soon you
might find yourself in the same position as duke: not being able to
compete at all because you're a sure-fire win. ;-)
With the big difference of course that I'll still enjoy your posts
immensely.

Hey, bedankt! Nice of you to say that you enjoy my stuff, Hannele: I'm
always really glad if it finds a receptive reader...!
And thanks very much to everyone else who voted, too!

Well, you need to remember, Duke isn't allowed in the competition
because he acted like an *****, even after I warned him to lay off. So
I think Katt is safe in that regard. So far... {;-)

I think you should get half what each winner gets; that is one full
winner's share. Enjoy.
