Here are the winners for the Quote of the Month contest for September
2006.
AQOTM: Hey what do you know... I won!
Okay...just kidding. But it was a thrill to be nominated and to get 3
votes for my effort. Thanks to all who helped with that thirill. But I
was blown out of the water by Matin Willet with his 9 votes.
Congratulations!
18) Deciding whether or not those stories the old folks tell you are
true should not be affected by you thinking about the consequences of
them being true. If you convert from Catholicism to Hinduism you don't
suddenly become eligible for reincarnation. Whatever is going to happen
to you when you die will happen regardless of what you believe just as
what will happen when you step off a cliff will happen regardless of
what you believe. Wanting bad people to be punished does not create a
Hell for them. Wanting to survive death does not create a soul or
eternal life. Wanting your whole life and the history of your
civilization not to have been a colossal waste of time will not make
your religious dogmas true. Wanting to be saved does not create a
saviour. Wanting to be special does not make you chosen.
