aa - QOTM winners September 2004 |
Here are the winners for September 2004.
AQOTM: We have a tie! With 8 votes each, our winners are Andrew Lias and
Stoney!
4) Religion had its chance. Thousands of years worth of chances.
Science came along and a couple of centuries later, we've got the most
advanced society in all of human history.
You *hate that don't you?
By: Mark K. Bilbo
Nominated: Andrew Lias
Seconded: Doc Smartass
14) LET US PREY
Bush is my shepherd, I shall be in want.
He maketh me lie down on park benches.
He leadeth me beside the still factories,
He restores my doubts about the Republican Party.
He leadeth me into the paths of unemployment for his cronies' sake.
Yea, though no weapons of mass destruction have been found, he maketh
me continue to fear evil.
His tax cuts for the rich and his deficit spending discomfit me.
He anointeth me with never-ending debt.
Verily my days of savings and assets are kaput.
Surely poverty and hard living shall follow me all the days of
his administration,
And my jobless child shall dwell in my basement forever.
By: Mason A. Clark
Nominated: stoney
Seconded: Steve Knight

TQOTM: On the Theist side, there was no contest at all. Congratulations
to Rob Duncan, I think...
4) In response to:
Of course religion evolved as a very coercive behavior modification
control, but to say people were scarcely human without religion is
just plain wrong. Logical thought is what made us human, and science
is the manifestation of logical thought, not religion. Primitive
religions have kept us in chains. Science sets us free.
Thats a load of crap. Guilt, shame, emberassment, thats what keeps
people in line and thats what religion offers.
By: Rob Duncan
Nominated: Llanzlan Klazmon
Seconded: Lee Schoch

I'm damn glad I started a week of vacation yesterday. I bloody well need
it.
Vacations are good. I just got back from mind.
At any rate, thanks for the puzzling and ephemeral surprise in finding
that I was an QOTM "winner". ;-)

Please note that he didn't say *his* mind. He got back from an
unspecified mind. No doubt there are many minds that provide open,
relaxing, quiet and empty spaces to roam in freely... {;-)

Hmmm, so are creative typos. Does this mean you're out of your mind
